i never say "y'all" when speaking about one person. maybe a little over "Texanized" with the first usage.
Y’all is both singular and plural. If you are with Jim at the time but his wife is not present, but want to know if both of them are going to the party, it’s OK to ask Jim, “Are y’all going to the party?”
I mean God. He came here from New York City! He is assimilated as well as he could in a short period of time.
