It's not out yet but news is filtering out before it's formal release later today. Congress is being briefed this morning. Bloomberg seems to have gotten a leaked copy of the report.

    So far:

Here is a link where thehill.com has a running commentary on the IG Report.

The whole part about an FBI agent saying they would stop Trump from being elected sounded pretty bad to me.

    Washington Post Headline:
Inspector general blasts Comey, says others at FBI showed ‘willingness to take official action’ to hurt Trump

I said this a long time ago, but instead of both sides using Comey as a political football, can we all just agree Comey was out for Comey and needed to go?

This from wapo when added to the texts already make it really clear where Sztrok stood vis a vis who he wanted to win election.
The Washington Post reported that Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report includes an August 2016 text message exchange between Strzok and then-FBI lawyer Lisa Page about Trump’s chance of being elected president.

“[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Page texted Strzok.

“No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it,” Strzok responded. "
    .
That should stun and anger even lefties

It definitely sounds bad but then the IG also says there is no evidence these biased viewpoints impacted the investigation. I liken it to hating your company but still doing a good job. The assumption by some is that by hating Trump they were leveraging their job to stop him, except the evidence shows the exact opposite and the IG says their is no evidence that their personal views impacted the HRC email investigation.

The unforgivable offense by Stzrok and Paige was that they used company phones for personal use, ostensibly to hide their affair. Having a political opinion is not illegal.

I think Comey made some very poor decisions. The decisions were made with integrity but simply by following standard protocol he'd have arrived at different decisions. Him keeping Lynch at bay when she didn't recuse herself was his attempt to work around what I suspect he felt were less than integrity laden decisions. Ultimately, his goal of protecting the reputation of the FBI was directly impacted based on those decisions.

Yet it says in the report that Comey exonerated Hillary by changing the law. The report says that he didn't due it out of political bias. It didn't say he was a man of integrity.

No, it's not. However, when you talk about stopping a president and using an "insurance policy" to do it is.

Thus I started the paragraph with I think denoting it was my opinion rather than what the report said. Did the report make any determination on Comey's "integrity"?

Nope, but reading the report gives you an idea that's it's not good.

Next IG report will cover Trump spying operation and FISA abuse (aka Russia investigation), which includes both FBI and DOJ. From there, Mueller will be discredited for indicting Flynn and will have the legs knocked out from underneath him.

I wouldn't be so sure on that. He could have hit Comey a lot harder but didn't. The Mueller truth will come out with the subpoenaing of documents from the House.

If you're attempting to read between the lines. It did say that he didn't follow standard procedures and protocols. This report isn't the nuclear bomb to Comey and the HRC investigation that some had hoped. Essentially, it says the conclusions the investigation reached were fair and politics free even though the path taken to reach them was circumspect.

Discredited like the HRC email investigation?

It did not say "fair". The IG pointed out that the FBI/Comey let Hillary go by changing the law, which was wrong. Also, 5 agents are in trouble. It may not be a nuclear bomb but it makes Comey and the FBI look bad.

Where are you reading that? According to thehill.com.
There has been a double-standard for leaders with regards to classified document handling for years.

Yep, 5 agents are in trouble for anti-Trump statements made on their work devices. Of course, the IG said there was no evidence of political bias in any of the work. Criticism of decisions made, yes. Criticism of delays (i.e. Weiner laptop), yes. But in all cases that I've read it was the same story...no evidence of political bias influencing the investigation.

The IG points out that Comey/ FBI requiring "intent" was bogus. That's not how the law works.

There are 5 agents who showed bias but of course there was no bias that affected the case. :p Yeah, sure. This is why we need a special counsel and not rely on an IG for the FBi case next. The IG did okay but he wasn't tough enough. It was a clear cut nuclear bomb.

Yes the IG found the Hillary investigation to be discredited due to biased FBI agents.

Also, we got the version of the IG report that the FBI had for three weeks and not the original document. The House said they will try to get the original document to see if anything's been tinkered(redacted) with.

The IG explicitly said their was no evidence of political bias in the investigation decisions.

Incorrect. There was no physical evidence such as written notes explicitly stating said bias, but the said bias was real to anyone who has a clue. Re-read the money quote.

Mchammer is making very good points. As usual the MSM is in full distortion mode.

I wonder what the IG thinks constitutes documentary evidence of bias? Seems to me Strzoks's emails are just that.

The whole thing reminds me of Comey's statement about Hillary's use of a personal server just before the election. He laid out the case for prosecuting Hillary and then concluded that he wouldn't recommend prosecution.

The facts don't seem to support the conclusion in either case.
