Kinda goes along with the autism question & the stay-at-home mom opinions...

So the other day, the wife and I are watching TV - and our 11 week old finally calms down for the night lying by my side. My wife sees that he's watching TV and you'd have thunk I just tattooed him with a red-hot spear!!

Apparently there is a ton of paranoia out there that a kid watching tv will turn him into an ADD type kid. My wife says there are studies out there that prove this... that the TV is overstimulating.

I don't get it?? I mean, she lets him stare at the ceiling fan and books with vibrant pictures. She bounces him up and down and pats his behind while she sings to him... but that's not overstimulating. What is it thats so dangerous about a TV???

I'm not wanting our little one to be a couch potato... but an occasional 15 minutes of watching the boob tube shouldn't be harmful, right???

A link on the subject. The Link

So what are your experiences with this? Is my wife overreacting? Or am I not acting enough?
