first "offshore" over the water well was drilled on Caddo............Gulf Oil built the original dam in 1914 so they could get their drilling equipment in place.........after the Raft on the Red River was finally destroyed the water level dropped around 10 feet and it had become mostly swamp with the Cypress Bayou flowing thru it...........still some producing wells outthere.
