Just watched it on CNN. I think it's gonna be significant, especially in Oregon.

    Ha, yeah big news.

I like the choreography of the announcement.

Obama gets curb-stomped in WV, so the next day Edwards announces.

Edwards does not have that much juice, Clinton is not going anywhere. Even though she is toast, done, over, and out.

    Ha.

It's significant because it's basically the cherry on the Clinton fail sundae.

Why are you without words, 68?

I missed something. A 40-point loss sounds like a metaphorical curb stomping to me.

He's probably without words because it's the equivilent of making a last-second shot to lose by 8 instead of 10.

I'm guessing Edwards' pre-withdrawal pledged delegates will now go over to Obama as well.

    huge news for Obama

and of course Clinton is done and she will be out of the race shortly. as in just a few weeks at the first part of June if not before. Some speculate she may even bow out after May 20

Hell Obama has even picked up multiple superdelegates just right after last night. She cant even freeze those

I noticed faux news cutting away to commercials before the endorsement was completed.

I have just been reminded how much I detest Edwards. I'd rather have the Socialist or the Liar than the Demagogue.

So with this does Edward's pledged delegates come too?

Not necessarily. Edwards can "release" his delegates, and then they won't be "pledged" to anyone. They can vote for either Clinton or Obama, or they can even still vote for Edwards. But the reality is that they will probably vote for Obama on the second, if not the first, ballot.

Did anyone else see Obama whisper in Edwards' ear, then Edwards turned to him and said, "I got your back"

    Awesome moment

Doesn't change the status quo, given that Obama is already the presumed nominee. But a good symbolic gesture for Obama.

Clinton is not going to end her campaign after May 20. She simply cannot do so given that the rationale she is giving now for staying in that she wants everybody to have their say.

She also doesn't want to admit defeat as long as possible. I can only imagine how painful it is for her. From thinking that she had a cakewalk to the Whitehouse to not even having a shot at it. She was preparing her whole life for this moment and when she gets there, an upstart like Obama steals it from her. I can only imagine how much she hates him now.

NYT is reporting Edwards has told aides he would consider a VP slot through something like Attorney General would be favored

I cant see Obama picking edwards as VP...though I would bet on him being in his adminstration

Evidently CNN is reporting that Edwards will campaign through November with Obama whether it involves the VP slot or not.

If this is true, his announcement goes beyond a mere endorsement and any timing effect therein.

It suggests Edwards has his sea legs and energy ready to go, and now is the time to climb aboard for the long haul.

    Sweet

In my opinion, Edwards would be great as Obama's VP. Some people may not like him, but I do. It was my dream ticket for a while until Edwards said he didnt want the VP a couple of months ago. Maybe that has changed.

As for pledged delegates, I'm not sure about how this works for the dems. I know the republicans can have their pledged delegates go to whomever they endorse. I heard on CNN a few months ago when Edwards dropped out that the Dems do not have this rule. So I don't think Edwards delegates can go to Obama. The only way they would be able to go to Obama is if there was a second vote. Again, I dont know if this is true but I would like to see some sort of document that says the delegates can go to another candidate on the first vote.
