Bring on the hate....I KNOW, they were very popular with many. Fine - I respect their success.

However, I have always thought they were a very average sounding rock band, with poor lyrics and a weak voice lead singer Raleigh and Perry.

    Sorry just my .02

    FLAME AWAY!

You’re like those who say the Beatles suck. But then again, so what?

What made you have to post that? Journey really cares about you think.

Steve Perry says that he is sorry that you are Feeling That Way but if you and Journey must go your Separate Ways, that is Ok. He and Journey will still be there, Patiently.

May your restless heart sleep alone tonight!:p

That is kinda funny as I remember when I took the history of R&R, largest class I was ever in, the instructor asked for a raise of hand of those who like Journey. No one was willing to raise their hand. I'm not sure what the stigma is.

They aren't my favorite band but I like some of their songs. I've got a couple on my phone. But I have some Carpenters too so maybe I'm the problem.:idk:

Nah, I get what brother Wooster is saying. If you really think about it, the chord progressions are weak, [political comment removed], Perry's voice is like a scratched record, and on and on.

Everyone give WM a break here.

    Just kidding, I love them.

Point of Parliamentary Procedure: Since the pun is meant to be a play on the word "resent", isn't it funnier to say "I represent that remark"? I think so.

    And Journey is allsome.

Yes, but in the interest of PG compliance, I did indicate I was only joking. And, she couldn't write anything that smart, anyway.

Saw a documentary the other night on the band and I got a little obnoxious here. The band doesn't give a rats *** if I like 'em or not, nor any of you that like them.

Nope, sorry, never have... call me un-American!

Doubling down.... have never cared for Bruce Springsteen's tunes. I appreciate and respect his success plus his loyal fans.

    Flame away!

WM was just Feeling That Way...

And that is fine...nobody requires him to embrace Journey with Open Arms.

Aww, dude - I won't flame away, because you are entitled to your opinion, but there's a lot of evidence to suggest they are way above "very average". On vocals, Steve Perry is widely respected for his range, and that's not even considering that Gregg Rolie (who now lives in Austin) co-sings a lot of their tunes, such as Feeling that Way/Anytime. Given that Carlos Santana tapped Gregg for vocals on "Black Magic Woman" and other tunes, I think that says that he might be pretty decent...and he's a hell of a keyboard player too. On guitar, Neil Schon will make any Top 100 guitarists of all time list, and by the way, Santana also had him in his band before Journey days, too. Last I'll comment on Steve "machine gun" Smith on drums, since I'm a drummer myself. Steve is a probably Top 10 drummer of all time, in any genre (he is widely respected in jazz circles, for example: .) The band was still sorting out things for their first few albums, and got a little "poppy" later on when Rolie left the band and was replaced by Jonathan Cain for the Escape album, but the Departure-Infinity-Evolution three album stretch should be on anyone's playlist - there's not a bad song on any of those albums, and the Captured live album after Evolution shows what a great live band they were.

That statement is Nowhere Man! Don't Rain on the Beatles.

I Should Have known Better! All You Need is Love for The Beatles bro.

Your statement was so Yesterday. What you need is Help with Something!

You could also benefit from a Little Help from Your Friends to Get Back on the Long and Winding Road to Getting Better...

Maybe then you could again live and flourish in an Octopuses Garden.

Well, I guess I'm not really a huge Beatles fan either - they were a little before my time - but do have to tip the hat for the impact they had on music, and they set the stage for a lot of my favorite bands of the 70's and 80's.

Supposedly, Steve Perry modeled his singing voice after Sam Cooke. While Perry doesn't achieve the vocal talent level of Cooke, you can hear the Sam Cooke influence in Steve Perry's vocals.

Or are you saying that Steve Perry's voice IS BETTER THAN Sam Cooke's???

The Sam Cooke influence is there, and rather obvious...

Neal Schon with his kimono and big fro.
Steve Perry with interesting attire and crooning like Sam Cooke.
Ross Valory with long hair flopping around keeping the beat on the bass.
Incredible sustained wail from Steve Perry from 2:29 to 2:41.

    What's not to like?
