Wow. Sampson sounds like he's about to ruin another program.

 

Twelve step program for Sampson:

Step 1--pick up cell phone, call recruit, moisten finger, stick finger in electrical outlet.

Step 2 through 12--repeat

 

This is great regarding the recruitment of Nolan Dennis, who is the best player in Texas in the '09 class, IMO.

 

And just why does this surprise us?

Indiana takes this stuff seriously. Sampson will likely be fired over this.

They were none to happy they hired him in the first place then they caught him making calls. Now, he's done it again.

I truly believe Indiana basketball is one of the few programs in college athletics that doesn't cheat. Say what you want about Bob Knight but you can't say he cheated. Indiana takes a lot of pride in that.

I'd be surprised if Sampson isn't **** canned over this.

 

IU gets what they deserve, I just feel bad for the kids. If IU is going to get nailed, I hope they let the kids that want to transfer, do so w/out penalty. As far as Sampson, he needs to be suspended for 2yrs, absolutely no contact with the game or college institutions, camps etc. He's selfish and this is the kind of stuff that ruins young mens college experience, and he needs to pay a severe penalty, if a coach can get the death penalty, he should get it, he makes me sick.

 

IU made Sampson forfeit a $500K bonus when the first reports of the investigation came out so I don't see how he survives this. He'll be lucky to get a job at a mid-major once this is all through.

 

I don't feel sorry for IU. They hired a cheater, and he continued to cheat. Idoits.

 

True Story.

Last Fall, I was traveling to Indianapolis quite a bit for work. So, I was in the Indy airport alot. As I was walking to the Terminal I noticed a man who looked very familiar. I didn't know him, but I knew of him. He was on a cell phone. As I neared the area he was standing (a bookstore entrance), I absolutely recognized him. It was Kelvin Sampson. And, he was on a cell phone. I chuckled to myself and thought "I wonder what number he was up to on that call? 500? 1000?"

A cell phone is his heroin.

 

He's like a teenage girl with that phone.

Sampson "gave false or misleading information" amongst other things. IU will release a statement later today. My guess is, the statement will begin "Indiana's interim head basketball coach will be..."

Is anyone surprised by this? He does this every year, using that cell phone to recruit kids like he's a 15 year old cheerleader.

He's a dirty cheater, which is why he was such a good fit at OU.

I hope he has to coach high school girl's basketball after IU fires him.

Hard to believe OU ran him off ... he was a perfect fit to their whole way of life.

I don't know why Barnes is friends with this guy. I've always tried to give Sampson the benefit of the doubt, but that ship has sailed.
