Best of luck to the young man. It's a major decision in a young man's life and if this isn't the perfect fit, time to move on. I like it was not done with a display of hats or fanfare. Make your mind up, declare it, move on.
I don't think so, not directly. But some play that "Ooooh, where am I going" game with hats. I think I would laugh a little if a dude stood in front of 3 of the same school's hats and said he was to take away his commitment from one of the 3 schools below.
