The midweek game is a bit special this week. It could very well be the last time, that long time head coach Jim Gilligan, brings his team to the Disch, to play Texas.

After 38 years of being the head man for the Cardinals, he announced this would be his last season, at the helm. I remember some spirited contests with Lamar over the years, some in Regionals, in Austin. Texas always got the best of it, but there were some very memorable games. Kazoos would play the theme from "Gilligan's Island" in section 2, back then for Jim.

There was one elimination game in one of those regionals, where Lamar faced off against OU and Lamar won. In the last inning Gilligan stopped and thanked section 2 for cheering for Lamar. He was told, it's not that we really like you, we just really hate OU, he laughed and shook his head.

If this is the last time Texas sees Lamar this season, it's the end of an error.

Well, so much for momentum. Texas reverts back to form and can't do anything with Lamar's Tuesday pitchers. This team is beyond irritating.

Lamar showed agressiveness at the plate and scored early and late, for the win.

Texas didn't have too many scoring chances and had bad execution, when they did, popping up two sac bunt attempts, and swinging and missing on a hit and run, for a strike em out, throw em out double play.

Two runs won't win too many college baseball games and it didn't tonight. Mayes wasn't sharp and Lamar can hit, they got the run they needed to win, then an unearned run on top of it.

Lamar was the better team tonight, so they get the W. Good luck to coach Jim Gilligan, his has been a long and distinguished career.

Texas heads to Norman to face a struggling OU team this weekend, after they were pretty much wiped out in Lubbock, in a Tech sweep.

You know they will be up to face Texas, you really need a series win against a team like OU, but who knows, it's a rivalry series, on the road. Have to see how it goes.:hookem:

Yeah kind of a downer to know even if we take 2 of 3 from OU and then beat A&M-CC on Tuesday, we're still under .500 at 14-15 a week from now.
