Ugh I woke up all happy with the score of the Texans game, but then this news quickly shut that down There have been some claims of responsibility, but no proof
We can't do anything it appears. You could have armed everyone in that crowd and it wouldn't have made any difference. They were like fish in a barrel. What a tragedy.
I predict this guy is going to turn out to be a Bernie Bro much like the Scalise shooter. He targeted the audience of a country concert because he believed they would be mostly conservative.
Lived in Vegas for seven years, and have been hearing from some of them. One girl I know works at a buffet in a casino a few blocks down the strip. They think something's going on with how this is being reported. When they started clearing the casinos and getting people to safe places, they could hear shots being fired INSIDE the casino. I could imagine they'd hear shots coming from Mandalay for a good distance, but if you're inside Caesar's Palace and can hear the shots... they're thinking that there was more than one shooter and it's not being reported.
Man these people cannot help but expose their douchiness: http://dailycaller.com/2017/10/02/c...s-often-are-republican/?utm_source=site-share http://thehill.com/homenews/house/3...e-in-moment-of-silence-on-house-floor-for-las
And by the way... can we not politicize this for a week or so? I mean we already have people lining up to argue that "i knew he was white because they called him a lone wolf and didn't call him a terrorist." Our culture is so incredibly screwed up that when someone kills a bunch of people, we can't just say "it's horrible and the guy needs to go down." We have to be concerned with how that action is classified, as if a lone wolf killing 50 people is somehow "better" or "more favorable" than a person with suspected terrorist ties doing it.
I'd chalk that up to all the misinformation that sprung out from the Sandy Hook massacre. I'm sure she believes what she heard but that may also be an invented memory which are all too common in these situations.
I think the media has done an admirable job in covering this. They get criticized by the right for not claiming terrorism or tying it to Islam soon enough. They were consistent in this in that they are waiting for law enforcement to make the determination.
Prodigal, We need to be concerned for the wounded rather than politics. The healthcare delivery system Nevada is one of the worst in the country. It's not like going to Methodist, Ben Taub or Hermann in Houston, or Parkland, Presby, or MedCities in Dallas, or Scott & White. About 15 years ago, I was in charge of expansion for a healthcare company going nationwide. After a week in Vegas and Reno, we opted to bypass the state. Something about 70% of the physicians having lost their license in another state.
My inlaws live in LV yet travel to Seattle for all medical treatment, including routine doctor visits. They don't trust the healthcare system there.
It's traumatic all around for anyone near the strip or even in Las Vegas at this moment. I've had 2 friends post on facebook that they are OK (were at the MGM Grand and the Tropicana) and family members that checked in. Fortunately, none of them were in attendance at this country music festival.
Every time something like this happens it brings up bad memories for me of the 1991 Luby's shootings in Killeen that's not far from my house. It tore our local community apart. Just terrible.
As far as errant reports, I distinctly remember radio stations reporting that there were at least TWO snipers on the Tower. Also reported that the shootings appeared to be racially motivated since the first person shot was a black male riding a bicycle. In 50 years, reporting has changed, but not its accuracy. Sensationalism sells.
This dude was a Vegas high-roller per CNN. He checked in on Thursday and was a regular at the $100-ante poker tables. Paddock was a 64yr old retired accountant with only a single interaction with law enforcement that was handled through the court system years ago. All his weapons are believed to be legally acquired at this point. If you listen to any of the videos, he'd clearly converted at least one if not others to be an automatic weapon. He was firing .308 and .223 rounds (per Fox). It's been a long time since I've fired an AR-15 in the military. It would seem that it would be difficult to do much damage from that range although the elevated firing location may have helped.
Wow! I was unaware of this! Mercy. NV kinda soft on licensing standards in multiple areas I see. Ughh.
The 308 would certainly have plenty of energy at 500 yards to penetrate fleshy parts on people dressed for a Vegas late summer outdoor event. What a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers for the victims and the families. Whatever this guy’s motivation, I also pray for justice in the here and now ... and that he’d come to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ before the here/now ends for him.
.... oh wait ... he already took the cowards way out. Well, he’ll probably be spending eternity regretting that decision.
That was pretty quick -- "CBS fires vice president who said Vegas victims didn't deserve sympathy because country music fans 'often are Republican' " Any chance she is a poster here? http://www.foxnews.com/entertainmen...-country-music-fans-often-are-republican.html
Wow ... hat tip, CBS ... albeit an easy one. Probably the statement was made in part of some other “off the shelf” reaction to manipulate. I doubt this reporterette is going to be in a soup kitchen line, or shaking a can downtown anywhere.
I've heard this from a number of people. Lots of malpractice, lots of issues with subpar health care. At least one hospital where someone told me "whatever you do, if you get sick, don't go there." As Steve Martin so appropriately put it in his role as fire chief in "Roxanne," "We can't have people in the town going around saying that if there's a fire, whatever you do, DON'T CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT!"
We have a family friend that couldn't get into med school in the domestic US. So, his father, a doctor, sent him off to some school in the Caribbean. He's now practicing in the LV area. Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't trust a doctor who couldn't qualify for an domestic medical schools.
Another candidate -- Jeff Zeleny wants CNN viewers to keep in mind that the victims were likely Trump supporters.
