Cut this chump off at the knees and create a new recruiting slogan with a filed trademark.

It's not some monumental task. Strong's last name is a freakin' adjective that fits sports to a tee. :smile1:

I'd also cut Higdon out of the loop and tell him to #ridethis

Yeah, this is Texas fault for being incompetent and lazy by not protecting Strong's well known recruiting slogan.

But still this freeloader should not profit from it's continued use when it'd take a few hours of creativity to replace it with something just as good.

Nor should he have access to the program any longer after the poaching. Proactive trademarking potential future slogans involves intelligence and savvy.

Reactive trademarking another's popular slogan is thieving horse dung. Even worse when you associate with the person and team using the slogan.

Seems like someone that connected to the recruiting process runs the risk of initiating an investigation if he is profiting off of recruits and current players...

Time for the program to tell #higdung that "you're dead to me...you're more dead to me than your dead mother."

What a cheesy move. I guess when you're an underemployed professional jock sniffer of 17 year olds, you look for $ wherever you can find it.

    Dear Longhorn Nation:
Do not subscribe to this *** bag's website, unfollow his twitter, and shun him for being a douche.

    Dear All Recruits:
Do not talk to this *** bag. He is a known for being a douche.

    That is all

I would think he might rethink things if the University had a long talk with him about access to players, facilities, all things UT.

He doesn't work for UT, but Texas Athletics ir responsible for his livelihood.

Subscribers and Texas supporters blast him with messages that say, you might want to let go of that slogan, if you want to stay in business.

i find the entire thing to be really really odd.

higs is more tied into the program than any other writer out there. he supposedly gets his information directly from yall's director of player personnel. he followed charlie from florida to louisville and now to texas. charlie has been his meal ticket for a long long time. why screw him over now?

something is really weird about this.

Trademarking a catchphrase isn't problematic in and of itself, it's who did it that's the issue for many of us. Jason Higdon makes his living writing about Texas recruiting, talking to Texas recruits, and his livelihood is based on access to insider information about the Texas Longhorns.

With the trademarks & apparel sales he's now financially invested in the success or failure of the program, which is ethically dubious at best and invites a whole host of potential issues for himself and the university.

Say UT decides to start paying him for the right to use that catchphrase, does the NCAA now view him interacting with recruits as an extension of the university? How many recruiting violations could be tied to his short-sighted cash grab by Higdon?

Did he think of any of this when he started filing paperwork? Does he even care?

But hey, free market, right? Higdon has every right to try this idea out. The beauty of the free market is that just as Higdon can trademark a catchphrase, we can choose to support or combat his idea.

This is why I've purchased www.JasonHigdon.com. It's online right now with a handful of Wordpress entries, and I intend to use it for creative purposes going forward. Maybe I'll keep posting tweets of people bagging on Higdon, maybe I'll redirect it to sites dedicated to furry porn, maybe I'll hand it to Liucci & TexAgs. It's mine, I can do whatever I want with it.

Seriously how hard is it to find a replacement for #letsride?

#saddleup ...took all of 15 seconds to think of a similar western theme slogan

#regulators ...if you want to keep the soul vibe and mount up with Warren G

30 minutes of brainstorming and we could have 20+ solid alternatives.
