Very important defensive player out with injury for North Carolina. North Carolina goes nowhere on first drive. Wake driving on its first drive. Wake is often running that weird looking option where the mesh point seems to last forever and both options are heading straight up the middle anyway. But it works. Drive stalled by penalty. North Carolina has ball again. 9 yards on first down pass. Loss of 2 on second down. Incomplete pass on third. Back to Wake. North Carolina stuffs them on that drive. Run went nowhere, then two incomplete passes. Back to North Carolina. NC shoots itself in the foot with penalty and then receiver tripping over himself on completed pass. Back to Wake.

Wake scores on short field after NC back fumbled. NC stymied again on next possession. Wake gets TD after quick 78 yard drive on next possession. Wake scores again on long pass. Looking like a very long evening for Mack. Wake stops them again. I'm thinking about other alternatives until the Pirate's game starts.

Wake offense looks overpowering, sorta like their defense after Qtr and 1/2.

OT--Les just took lead over BC nearing end of first half. 21-17. I know most of us don't like Les, but I'm happy for the conference if KU improves even just a little bit.

For some reason the UNC player wanted to stay up, and in bounds.
He had no idea what to do

You know, they are saying that the clock cannot stop until the official on the field says so, but that is obviously not true. Think of all the instant replays that result in, among other things, the clock being reset, not to where an official on the field signaled it should stop, but to where it actually was when the replay official determines the play ended. And of course in the Nebraska game, the issue was not when an official stopped the clock, it was when the ball hit something out of bounds--thereby stopping the clock. EDIT--now they are explaining that his forward progress had been stopped before he stepped out of bounds, which ended the play but kept the clock running since NC had no timeouts. SECOND EDIT--Even though the clock would not have stopped, the official should have blown his whistle as soon as he determined that forward progress was stopped. I'm gonna listen to the play again, but if there was no whistle, that means that the official had not determined the play was over before the runner stepped out of bounds, which means stepping out of bounds should have stopped the clock.

It was crap not to stop the clock when the defensive player has the ball and is running down the field. WTF? Cost them at least 10 seconds.

ACC admitting this AM that the crew screwed up...

Mack might not have won the game, but I would have loved to see a last play there...

Kind of silly that going to a review would let them run a free play even it turns out that the call on the field was correct (which would mean that the clock should have kept running and not stopped - but they'd have to stop the clock to make certain of that....)
