I'm gonna try this one more time. The announcer is Wally Pryor, the event was the first ever state marching championship: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z171IW2AJGY
Cindy, our drum major, became salutatorian, played in LHB for three years, clarinet, graduated from UT in three years? and became a dentist. She posted this onto youtube. She practices dentistry in the North Austin area.
Here is a memory. The Alumni band had seats at the game that were in the same zip code as the game on the field
Hey '93, I remember those days. When the rest of the stadium could hear us singing "Home on the Range". m/
Ok, here's a LHB story from a fan .. not a band member. 1964, two freshmen, real newbies are sitting in 47U. Longhorns vs. Tulane. As the LHB emerges from the north tunnel and fills the track from end zone to endzone ... marching in place much like today's entrance ... we are both very impressed. Having never seen a band this large, loud and excited we're jumping and clapping with amazement. Then the other half of the band marches in to fill the east side of the track. and thanks for all the classy entertainment. Texas football would not be Texas football without the Showband of the Southwest.
