I wonder if, as the author suggests, it truly will make Dell's hardware run better.

I don't see any way that gets approved by the Antitrust Division.

Most companies are getting away from the Hardware/Commodity business and are going S/W and application centric, why would Microsoft go the other way?

I haven't owned or even hardly used a PC in 6 or so years so they may be much better but if you have enough money to spend, I can't imagine why you would ever buy a PC over a Mac.

Please, Lord, not another Mac vs. PC thread.

A Microsoft buyout of Dell doesn't involve Apple.

This is quite possibly one of the most ridiculous articles I have ever read. The author is a complete moron.

So a company that makes crappy software is going to buy a company that now makes crappy PCs that already come loaded with their software. Sounds like money well spent.

I only hope that all other PC manufacturers see this as war and join together and dump MS.

This means that they want to directly compete with IBM and HP. Two things will come of this:

    1.) There will be blood.

2.) MS will at some point release a linux distribution (which may or may not cause the universe to implode).

Desktop is still a dead platform. Cloud and mobile computing is where it is at. Small screens over bulky ****.

Desktop computing is dead, also monochrome laser printers.
    Paperless office, too.
