Buffalo is going to take down S. Florida. Another upset. Some brackets are going to be messed up after this weekend.
looks like ASU is moving on. A cold spell that lasted almost ten minutes from mid way through the third to about six minutes left in the fourth doomed Neb. Don't think they can make up the deficit although stranger things have happened.
ASU is going to be a formidable matchup for Texas! They have plenty of bench depth, quick guards and are very disciplined in there offense! They look a little scary.
kinda strange that was called an excessive foul. She was going up for the shot and did not swing her elbows. A similar foul yesterday in a men's game was looked at and called a personal foul only because the player that fouled had his arms going up to get the shot off and was not swinging his elbows side to side. ASU looked much better in the second half. Both teams looked like they were sleepwalking in the first half. Neither team guarded the 3pt line very well in this game. Poor shooting by Neb for about a ten minute stretch, not outstanding defense by ASU, allowed the Sun Devils to separate and win the game. I don't really see ASU presenting enough problems to win. Ibis is going to be a tough matchup for whoever is playing the four. The lefty has a nice touch out to behind the arc.
I noticed that when Khali-Ann came in she was playing the small forward (Audrey-Ann’s position) as opposed to the 3-guard she has played in the past! I guess she will take up some of the slack in Rellah’s absence.
just a small correction there, Audrey-Ann played the PF or four the majority of the time. Khaléann had been playing the SF/wing but is going in this game at the PF/four position per the player she is usually going in for: either Joyner or Jordan.
sometimes, the players a bit too unselfish. They would be better off taking the shot rather than making that extra pass which allows the defense to recover.
OU lost. Baylor will play Michigan. OSU moves on to face #1 Miss. State. and I think it's safe to say that Texas will play ASU Monday.
Nice to see everyone get in and play some solid minutes. Liked that the team did not look like they ever let up. 62% from the field; 75% from BTA and 90% from the FT line. 43-12 edge on the boards. Only bad thing that pops out: 20 TOs committed by the Horns, including 8 steals by Maine. Next up is Arizona State.
https://www.hookem.com/2018/03/17/final-texas-83-maine-54/ Game time for Monday is set: Basically the same story but has links to post game quotes, etc. http://texassports.com/news/2018/3/17/womens-basketball-defeats-maine-in-ncaa-first-round-83-54.aspx
Horns should be well rested as Ariel (25 minutes), Brooke (24 minutes) and LaShann (23 minutes) topped the squad in minutes played. Everyone played at least 12 minutes.
DISH had the game on one of the ESPN alternates (147 I think it was). Each game got region-specific alternate assignment viewable in that region.
Does anyone have any idea about Destiny Littleton? It just seems so odd that she has had zero play time since...when... December?
Destiny has not played since the Northwestern game on Dec. 13, 2017. No idea of why she has not played. Some here have suggested an injury or possible redshirt. I don't think, in trying to make sense of the rules, that she would meet the requirements for a RS season as she will end up playing more than the allowable number and/or percentage of games, if I figured everything out correctly. Looks like A&M is about to be shown the door by DePaul, the same team that ousted OU. The Aggies have a quarter to make up ten points. Tenn is seven minutes from biting the dust versus Oregon State, down nine.
Depaul was up by 15 but Ags coming back, still down 5 with a few mins to go though. Blue Demons are good, even more impressive that Kamie's Northern Colorado squad took them down this season.
Tenn goes down, 59-66 to DePaul. Guess OU feels a bit better. while Tenn fans are all about "Fire Holly".
Oh man Carter just made a 3 and Ags up by 1, Depaul has just over 4 secs to get a basket or Ags complete the comeback!
A&M escapes, 80-79 by stealing the inbounds pass from DePaul with 1.5 seconds left. Gary Blair's team pulls out another.
In our quarter of the bracket, N. Carolina State drops Maryland 74-60 to move into the Sweet 16 and awaits the winner of the Miss. State-Okie State game tomorrow. UCLA-Creighton and Texas-ASU are on at the same time tomorrow. Maybe they will end up being staggered a few apart so that we can watch the ending of he UCLA-Creighton game. If Horns win Monday, they will play the winner of UCLA-Creighton.
