Welcome Goodwin! Think he ran a 4.34 forty at the camp! My understanding is that he may get in on a track scholly until he hits the football field. So this may not effect our total # for '09. We'll have to see how that shakes out but the word I'm hearing is that we bring in 22 for '09.
Looking at the numbers it actually isnt a good idea to bring another WR in, unless we are losing someone. At this point, i am assuming all Hicks, Fitzhenry and Collins will play WR. Hope he does get a track schollie and that'll give us an extra for this class. I dont think we need to use one on a WR. Last 2 years we have a lot at this position and Timmons this year. We are in great position at WR. Lets focus on others.
Welcome, Mr. Goodwin. So ... if I understand this, Goodwin turned down a full ride at OU and A&M on football scholarship to take a track schollie at Texas? You gotta like a kid who knows what he wants!
Same school as Norton I believe. Mack has really gotten some kids with speed the last couple of classes. Can't wait to see the John Chiles speed package on the field.
We'll see if he decides to play football. His future most likely is T&F. I believe he won four medals in the state meet and might have actually out long-jumped the B12 winner.
I believe that is a student signs a LOI in any Men's D-1 sport other than Football - then plays football for that University - the Football team is "charged" with that student as a Football player (Scolarship wise). This is done to keep Coaches from stacking Football players onto ******** teams at the school all the while using them on the Football field. I will admit I am not an expert - but that is what I remember.
If he decides to play football, then great. If not, I wouldn't mind having him on the track team either.
yes ricky and ced were walk ons in that they did not receive athletic scholarships. that is different. if J'mike finley, for example, played basketball for the horns, he counts against the 85 man limit (not sure about the 25 per year limit but we rarely approach that anyway) whether his scholarship is from basketball or football. same would apply here with Goodwin (same i believe with gerland).
