I think it was a combination of many factors. Suddes had a thing in place that didn't go with what Strong wanted in place. Plus, he got a decent offer from Arizona State, so why bother matching it if you want to change things up? I think it would have taken a lot more time (and success on the field) in order to see what Suddes could do. Getting sophomores to a special camp day is nice and all, but I've always thought that the best recruiting was done on Friday nights and practice fields, not in small group settings with controlled variables, like a mini 7-on-7 in front of recruiters.
Well his wife is a professor at UT so you know that was a hardship during the season. I wonder if he seeked us out for our opening or did Strong? The stars perfectly aligned for him for this position. He was a special assistant here at Texas from 1997-2000. Welcome back to Austin.
