Very interesting part about Slive not having much pull in re-doing the contract. If like every aggy seems to think, and ESPN is out to get them, why didn't they call Slive and say nope on contract. You will pay them out of your pocket. Can any aggie conspiracy theorist explain this one to me?
The article is fine for what it is. But it does ignore the fact that everyone has known since about 1988 that this kind of realignment was going to happen. Kramer of the SEC pointed out around 1988 that if a conference had 12 teams, the NCAA rules allowed that conference to split into 2 divisions and have a playoff game. A few years thereafter, here goes Arkansas from the SWC to the SEC. And so the game was on. And now we're criticizing aggy for wanting to go his own way? What Texas better do is look out for itself. Because the NYTimes is right:
In other news, Sports Illustrated predicts Perry over Romney in a nail-biter for the Republican nomination and forecasts unemployment numbers to continue to disappoint through the end of the year. Just tell me you don't have the NYT bookmarked as a source for your sports news. On the other hand, this is definitely an impressive display of the power of Dodds' rolodex and no doubt a result of the long standing strength of UT's journalism department.
