Carmelo Anthony had free tickets for Mayo to attend a Nuggets game. Mayo took them, which is apparently an NCAA violation.

...unless they consider Carmelo a "friend".

I doubt anything comes out of this. Carmelo probably is a friend of Mayo. I dont see anything wong with what Carmelo or Mayo did.

I mean its not like the Nuggets are offering him free tickets so that he signs with the team or anything. All he is getting is a chance to sit in some good seats to watch a pro basketball game.

The only way I could see this being a problem is if Carmelo is acting as a "runner" for his agent and giving Mayo the tickets so that Mayo signs with the same agent that Carmelo has. And from the story this is highly unlikely as the tickets were probably free to Carmelo.

i don't know the current rules, but tiger woods got in trouble with the NCAA because arnold palmer bought him lunch when tiger was at stanford. sometimes these rules are stupid.
