Stunned, Pissed? The DC posting was a decent road map to Austin, wonder if this one sheds light on the new OC?
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Successful experience as an assistant football coach at an elite level. Ability to project the image of the University of Texas and the UT Men's athletics Department with dignity and grace regardless of circumstances and environments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Professional demeanor.
on 104.9 FM "the drive by" with Ketch... they said the word "preferred" may be the escape on that one
David Shaw Bio Has some NFL experience, but not sure he would want to leave the Tree. African Americans at both the OC and DC? You would think that would go over well in many living rooms around the state and the country. Nice if our DC was pulling some FL kids and our OC was getting some CA kids.
Major definitely meets all criteria. Me thinks it'll be an... "Apple" of an announcement. I know, I know... Don't give up my day job.
HousHorn, don't give up your day job. I'm not sure what the preferred NFL experience item is all about. (that's the reason I won't give up my day job.)
Preferred is just that and lack of a preferred qualification is not fatal. Apparently, the preferred qualifications are weighed in the resume screening process per a post by a person familiar with the state hiring process. BTW, don't the following requirements work against Chow? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Professional demeanor. If Vince had a problem with Chow, I hope he gets on the phone to Mack ASAP. On the other hand, if Vince worships Chow, I hope Vince's phone is out of order for the week.
The preferred aren't the required, but it seems like the preferred are the ones that fit Austin so closely. So if the same thing is going on with the OC, it would make sense to look at candidates that match the preferred. If it was Chow, the number of college years would be more than 5. If it was MA, there would be no NFL reference.
No Harsin shaw, chryst, mcgee, bostard in that order would be my preference if we could not get Harsin
I'm not a State Government (which UT jobs are) Human Resources Expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night...and I think you always have to post a job. The whole point is that it's an "open" (cough, cough) process regardless if you know who you're hiring - within or outside. Hook'em!!!
Shaw takes co-O. Major takes co-O. Running backs to Shaw- QB's to Major. I don't care who calls plays, but I would prefer MA. Mack gets a running game, and Major gets to stay. Win - Win.
The "preferred" part of the posting is the only part that is important; it is written to fit a specific candidate. Somebody has been selected, the posting is just a formality.
As a state employee, if someone is promoted, the posting is only required to go to all staff, not to the public. It looks like it will not be Major...
At UT, posted staff jobs can be (from most restrictive to least): 1) open only to other employees within the hiring department 2) open only to current UT Austin employees 3) open to anyone either in or out of UT Generally, if hiring departments identify a current employee within their department to fill a specific position, they can limit the scope of the qualified applicant pool to option 1 or 2 above. Since this position does not have this limitation, Mack is probably looking outside UT for his OC.
