Orlando Out

TO seems like a good guy, if this is true I wish him well. If it’s not true I wish him even weller.

 

Pretty surprised by this if true... I thought it might have been Beck. More names coming I'm sure. Orlando's star sure did fall but his third down blitzes from the outskirts of Pluto did us no favors.

 

Beck really needs to be gone along with C Strong!!

 

This!!! Been talking about this all season. Blitz from Pluto, leave the middle of the field vacated, and give up most 3rd and 10 we faced. I almost felt better when it was 3rd and 3, not 3rd and long.

 

Must have someone big already committed to us if true.

 

And yet the offense was more at fault than the defense in 3, if not 4, of our 5 losses this year.

 

Welp!! If true, one down, one to go. I really thought Beck would be the first one out the door.

 

Tom isn’t done. I’m not caught up on the order.

 

Reported the other day that Beck and Warehime were gone, not confirmed I guess?

Texas has fired defensive coordinator Todd Orlando

 

Supposedly Chris Ash is the top candidate for the DC job. Ash really hasn't done much except that he bombed as HC at Rutgers and he worked with Tom at Ohio State. I'm hoping this isn't another case of Tom going with someone he knows over someone that is good.

 

Herman talked about our DBs who were on campus two years not being able to cover man or qtrs...Wonder why DB coaches haven't been canned ?

 

If it is...Tom will be the next to go, ala Charlie Strong....

 

Orlando had to go. Average at best DC, below average recruiter and LB coach.
Ash would underwhelming, Tom needs to do better than that.

 

I ALWAYS felt better on third-and-short.

Obvious change with TO. I like him but you can't win championships with a defense ranked anywhere near 100.

 

I'm surprised, but glad he's gone. His defense had a very hard time getting game saving stops (tcu, isu, Lsu) when the offense had played well enough to win.

And statistically it was one of the worst defenses in the country.

Also getting Beck out at OC was mandatory. Same for receivers coach.

We shall see if mensa man can make quality hires to fill the openings.

 

So going into year 4 and it’s back to the drawing board, again.

This is in Herman. He could have hired anyone to be coordinators. He hired his friends. I hope CDC will prevent him from making more comfort hires, and make him get the best available this time.

 

Sounds like Beck is staying on staff which is disappointing. There is better out there than Orlando, but I am not sure it is Ash. The fires will depend on the quality hires... at least with Orlando. Will wait and see who is hired.

 

Geez, and I thought Texanne was the wife. Now I feel like a real Dumbo.

 

Two things:

1.) Beck can coach QB real well.
2.) Beck can recruit real well and has a handle on AZ.

Let's make it 3.

3.) Evidently Beck has not been involved in calling plays since 2017. Who knows how much he has been involved in play designing or game planning? My bet is not much.
