ORourke vs Cruz

I picked up an Almanac of American Politics 2016 edition and looked through it re some of our congress critters from Texas and was a bit surprised at some of the stuff on Beto. He started a term limits caucus in the congress pushing for ten year limits and criticized Obama for the DACA program on the grounds that Presidents should not just arbitrarily bypass congress when they don't do anything. He said it would encourage other presidents to do the same thing in the future.

I still wont vote for him. He is an Ivy Leaguer

 

Yet Beta supports DACA and is against controlling our border.
He voted against the bill on procedure only.

 

DACA wasn't a bill but a program created by Obama via executive order. The opposition was based on the principle that presidents have no constitutional authority to do so. On this issue at least he took a position for a government based on defined constitutional powers

Yep. It's baffling to me how much we hear about the "rule of law" being under attack now (but I've never heard anyone specify an actual law whose rule is under attack), but I never heard any of those sanctimonious "rule of law" people bring up that concern when DACA was enacted eventhough it was a major breach of the rule of law. When they were brought up on the Right, those concerns were dismissed with, "well, he has to do it because he has a 'do-nothing' Congress."

Where's the outrage? The hypocrisy of the left is amazing. I bet there will be excuses galore. Ohh, it was just a review of a play....ohh, he was only 19.....ooh, he apologized so he meant it and is really sorry...#metoo right?!?

Found it interesting that he got no endorsement from Obummer. Speculation was that he did not ask for it...which would at least seem to indicate that he is just smart enough to realize that an endorsement would be the kiss of death, a realization that he knows Texans do NOT want Obummer and Hillary-esque socialist crap.

 

Maybe Obama didn't like that people were calling him "the next Obama." Last thing he needs is a second tranformational figure showing up and actually accomplishing something.
