After dropping game one, it's imperitive that Texas wins game two. Tech leads TCU 5-1 in game two of their series. If that ends in another Tech win, it most likely means Tech is on their way to winning the conference.

So what Texas really needs now, in my opinion is a sweep by Tech and of course Texas to win the next two games, of this series. That would mean Texas would be in second place, at 11-7, while OSU and TCU would be tied for third, at 10-8. Texas would be at 22-22, on the season, with a chance to improve on that and finish second in the conference.

Long way to go for that though, just a scenario of mine.

Line-ups for game two coming up.

Nolan Kingham, the freshman right hander will come in for Texas.
He pitched very well at Tech last week.

Mertz will be back again to pitch the Horn seventh, after striking out the side in the sixth. Theroux is back in at catcher, Simpson had some problems, as a catcher.

He walks on four pitches, for a lead runner.

Gurwitz bats righty, with one on.
A grounder up the middle sneaks through, to put two on.
I wouldn't think that OSU would let this guygo much longer. They have some good relievers out there.

Pitching coach out, stalling for the pen, he leaves him in.

Righty hitter is Rand, batting righty, with two on.
He squares and lays it down, the sac goes 3-4, runners move up.

The new pitcher for OSU is their closer, Tyler Buffett, a very good right hander, with an era of 1.90.

He faces Jones, batting righty, the top of the order, bases full and two outs.
This could be the game, Texas really needs something in this inning.
A squibber gets by the pitcher, the second baseman fields it and the throw is late and in the dirt, an infield hit, a run scores.

    OSU leads 5-3.

Kody Clemens bats lefty, with the bases loaded, two down.
A hit to the outfield would tie the game.
A full count and now the biggest pitch of the game, the runners go and he fouls off five pitches.
Then he K's swinging on a fast ball, side down.

Texas does get one, sure wanted more there, OSU leads 5-3, after seven.

Kingham pitches the eighth, trying to keep things close. Boswell goes to third, Kacy Clemens to first and Barrera to catcher. Kody Clemens to second.

The Cowboys lead off with Benge, batting lefty.
Grounder up the middle and Clemens had it and slipped, drops the ball, throw late, another error goes E-4. Errors are killing the Horns.

He bunts and the sac goes 1-3, one away.

Runner on second and one down, for Rosa, batting righty.
He bloops one to right and it falls, two on, runner to third.

He grounds to first and the 3U is made, but the runner goes to second, as he was moving on the pitch.

Bottom of the order is Petrino, batting righty, with two on and two gone.
He flies to right to end the inning.

Another unearned run for OSU and they lead now 6-3, bottom of the eighth.

This team is a freaking train wreck. The can't handle success or failure. Great final 2 games on the road against the conference leader only to come home and absolutely go brain dead at the plate and in the field.

They have no confidence intheir ability to take back momentum in a game. Once they get behind they just crawl into a hole never to return.

When I was was at school in the 80s I never for one minute thought any Texas team I saw was out of a game. They didn't win every game in which they weere behind, but they did it often enough that it was shocking when they actually lost, not the other way around.

    Kingham will pitch the ninth.

OSU leads off with the top of the order again, in Davis, batting righty.
Fly ball to right is one down.

Hassel bats righty, with an out.
He grounds to third, the 5-3 makes it two away.

Walton bats lefty, with two gone.
He lines a single to right, for his second hit of the game and a runner.

Lefty hitter is Benge, with a man on and two gone.
A liner to short and that ends the frame.

Bottom of the ninth and Texas needs at least three or I think they will once again have to win the Big 12 Tourney, to reach a regional.
    OSU leads 6-3.

Buffett will pitch the ninth and try to get a save, for OSU. McCain comes in to play left field.

The Horns leads off with Rand, batting righty.
A foul fly by the stands in right and the right fielder has it, for one out.

Kacy Clemens bats lefty, with an out.
He walks, for a runner. Buffett has not been really sharp.

One on and one out for lefty hitting Boswell, the bottom of the order.
He K's again swinging, on the slow change, two gone.

Top of the order is Jones, batting righty, with a man on and two outs.
He tries to extend the game.
A fly ball to right and that ends the game.

OSU wins the game 6-3, the series, and sweeps the doubleheader, back in a minute.

I thought Texas was done after they didn't sweep Kansas, as far as an at large bid for a regional goes, but they bounced back against Tech.

Now though with losing this series to OSU, Texas falls to 20-23, with only nine regular season games to play. They also fall to fourth place in the conference now, too much to overcome I would think. Would have to win almost every game left, I would believe.

Texas and OSU both scored three earned runs in the doubleheader, but OSU also scored six unearned runs. So many errors this year and it has taken it's toll. The Cowboys played errorless baseball for the entire two games.

Hatch just shut them down, in the first game, after the double play ball, in the first inning.

The Horns will try and salvage a game tomorrow, be back then. :hookem:

I went to game 1.now I am 0-3 when personally attending games so I thought I would do the team a favor and not stay for the second game. And they played even worse the second game so I guess it's not me after all :)

I don't want this Texas team anywhere near a regional. It would just be embarrassing. Well, maybe if Tech gets a regional. We seem to play pretty well in Lubbock...
