Texas tries not to be swept in a series, for the first time this season. OSU tries to keep in the race for the Big 12 title. It's the third game of the series and Texas tries to hold onto some slim hope of making a regional, with an at large bid.

Game is on LHN at 1:30 pm and the audio on texassports.com.

    Line-ups coming.

Kyle Johnston gets his usual Sunday start, with a record of 3-1 and era of 2.56. Always about control with him.

J.R. Davis, the second baseman, leads off for OSU, batting right handed.
He K's swinging on a high fast ball, one down.

The right fielder is Corey Hassel, batting righty, with an out.
He grounds a single up the middle, for the first runner of the game.

Donnie Walton, the shortstop and very good hitter, bats lefty, with one on and one out.
The first full count and a fly ball to left is two gone.

Third baseman is Garrett Benge, batting lefty, one on and two outs.
He walks to put two on.

The DH is not Hatch, it's lefty hitting Colin Simpson, with two on and two outs.
He grounds to second and the 4-3 will end the inning.

Nothing for OSU and Texas comes to bat.

Trevor Cobb will start on the hill today, for the Cowboys, he has a 4-6 record and an era of 3.78, a right hander.

Travis Jones leads off, as the right handed DH, for Texas.
Grounder up the middle, not hard hit, the shortstop has it and spins and makes the 6-3 play, one away.

Third baseman is Kody Clemens, batting lefty, one out.
He K's swinging on the change in the dirt, the 2-3 putout will complete the second out.

Tres Barrera is catching today, he bats righty, two gone.
A high pop on the right side, the first baseman makes the catch, side down in order.

    One played and no runs.

Johnston back out for the second inning, for the Horns.

The Cowboys lead off with Ryan Sluder, their centerfielder, batting right handed.
One hopper to third goes 5-3, one down.

First baseman is Dustin Williams, batting lefty, one away.
He can't check his swing, on the big curve in the dirt, the 2-3 record the K, two down.

Jon Littell, the left fielder, bats righty, with two outs.
A fly ball to left and the side down in order.

    Bottom of two and 0-0.

Cobb returns for the Horn second frame, for OSU.

The Longhorns lead off with Kacy Clemens, batting lefty.
He lines a double to the gap, in right center, a lead runner.

Joe Baker bats righty, as the shortstop, a man on second.
He "eschews" the bunt and K's on three curve balls, swinging at all three, one away.

Lefty hitter is Patrick Mathis, the right fielder, one on and one out.
A fly ball to right and it's two down, runner holds at second.

Zane Gurwitz, plays centerfield, bats righty, with a man on second and two outs.
He needs a hit to give the Horns an early lead.
A full count and he is hit by a fast ball in the ribs, to put two aboard.

Left fielder is Ty Rand, batting righty, with two on and two down.
A liner to left will end the frame.

Texas wastes a lead double and after two, nothing across for either team.

Johnston back on the mound for Texas, in the third.

OSU leads off with Collin Theroux, batting righty, at the bottom of the order.
He singles up the middle, for a lead runner.

Top of the order is Davis, batting righty, with a man on.
He bunts and the sac goes 3U, for one down, runner to second.

Hassel bats righty, with a man on and one down.
Grounder to second and the 4-3 is two away, runner to third.

Lefty slugger is Walton, with a man on third and two outs.
He grounds a single through the middle and it scores the run.

    OSU leads 1-0.

Benge bats lefty, with a man on and two gone.
Grounder to first and Clemens down to knee has it, to retire the side.

OSU gets on the board and leads 1-0, bottom of three.

Cobb will pitch the third for OSU.

Texas leads off with the bottom of the order, Jake McKenzie, batting righty, he plays second base.
He K's swinging on the slider, one down.

Top of the order is Jones, batting righty, with an out.
A fast ball comes in and hits his arm, a runner on.

Kody Clemens bats lefty, with a man on and one out.
He swings at a low slider, at this shoetops, the K is two gone.

Righty hitting Barrera, with on on and two gone.
Jones goes and the throw was in time, but not caught by the second baseman, a stolen base.
Jones heads for third and this time is nailed 2-5, to end the inning.
Never make the last out at third, even had your best rbi man up too, I don't understand.

After three and OSU leads 1-0.

  10. NBHorn7

Johnston returns for the fourth, for the Horns.

OSU leads off with their DH, Simpson, batting lefty.
A shallow pop to center and Gurwitz has it almost in the infield, one down.

Sluder up batting righty, with an out.
He is hit by an inside fast ball, for a runner.

Lefty hitter is Williams, with a man on and one down.
A fly to left center for two away.

Littell bats righty, with a man on and two gone.
A balk called and the runner to second
A full count and he swings through the fast ball, the K will end the inning.

Bottom of the fourth, OSU leads 1-0.

  11. NBHorn7

    NBHorn7 Pimp Daddy

Cobb back on the hill again, for OSU, in the fourth.

Barrera leads off, batting righty, as he was left standing, when Jones was thrown out at third.
Of course he lines a single through the left side, a lead runner.
    Seems to always happen.

Kacy Clemens bats lefty, with a man on.
He bunts and the sac goes 1-3, an out and the runner moves up.

Righty hitter is Baker, with a man on second and one away.
Full count and he pops up to second, two down.

Up to Mathis who bats lefty, with a man on second and two outs, if the Longhorns are to tie the game.
He K's swinging, on the inside slider, that will end the frame.

Another runner stranded and OSU leads still 1-0, after four played.

  12. NBHorn7

    NBHorn7 Pimp Daddy

Johnston will keep on pitching, as the OSU fifth begins.

The Cowboys lead off with bottom of the order in Theroux, batting righty.
He singled and later scored the only run of the game, his last trip.
He swings at the curve in the dirt, the 2-3 complets another K, one down.

Davis bats righty, the top of the order, with an out.
Grounder to short and the 6-3 is two gone.

Righty hitter is Hassel, with two down.
He K's looking on the fast ball, side down in order.

Halfway through the last game of the series and OSU leads 1-0.

  13. NBHorn7

    NBHorn7 Pimp Daddy

Cobb is out the mound again, for the fifth for Texas.

Tech leads TCU 3-0, in the sixth.

Texas leads off with Gurwitz, batting righty.
He is hit by the first pitch, on the shoulder, second time he is hit today, a lead runner.

Pitching coach out and now returns to the dugout.

Rand is up righty, with a man on.
He will bunt most likely and fouls it off and takes a strike two.
So he K's swinging, on a pitch quite low, one down.

Bottom of the order is McKenzie, batting righty, with one on and one out.
He bunts and the third baseman charges and fields and has no play, the infield hit puts two aboard.

Top of the order is Jones, batting righty, with two on and one away.

Coach out and a pitching change made.

  14. NBHorn7

    NBHorn7 Pimp Daddy

The new Cowboy on the mound is Remey Reed, a big right hander. Cobb hadn't given up a run, but it's only a 1-0 game, so he left.

Jones back in the box, from the right side, two on and one out.
A full count and the runners go and a fly ball to right and Gurwitz doesn't pick up the ball, so the play goes 9U-6, for an inning ending double play. He rounded third and didn't touch third going back to second, he was out no matter what. How does a third base coach allow runner, in that situation to round third, before holding him up?

More bad base running and runners stranded, OSU leads 1-0, after five innings.

He lines a single to right, for a lead runner, just one of the best hitters in the Big 12.

Lefty hitting Benge is up, with a man on.
He lines one by Clemens and down the left field line, for a double, to put two on.

Simpson, the DH, bats lefty, with two on.

Travis Duke will come in for the Horns, the senior lefty.

He will face the lefty hitting Williams, with a man on third and one away.
    Infield comes in.

A pinch hitter is Andrew Rosa, batting righty, in place of Williams.
On a pitch a foot outside he reaches out and bloops a single to right, the run scores. When it goes bad, it really goes bad.

    OSU leads 4-0.

So Skip out again and another change made.

Tech beats TCU 3-1 and wins that series 2-1.

    Walton back in.

It's called a wild pitch, sometimes I think the scorekeeper at the Disch is drunk.
