This made me curious enough to look it up as well.

The top 5 are all Tech QBs, most of them before the spread offense became widespread (2010 or so). B.J. Symons is still #1.
Throw in Sonny Cumbie and 6 of the top 7 are from Tech. 5 of the top 7 played for Leach. Good gravy, Leach was ahead of his time. The only reason his teams aren't still setting jaw-dropping records is everyone else has started copying him, with better athletes. He'll never get the credit he's due.
#9-15 are mostly from OU, in the past 10 years or so.
Colorado, ISU, Kansas, KSU, Nebraska, Texas, TCU, and A&M aren't represented at all. That's more than half of the Big 12, past and present. All of the top 25 passers in the past 23 seasons came from only six universities (Baylor, Missouri, OU, OSU, Tech, and WVU).
64% were from either OU or Tech. 40% of them from Tech alone. 28% under Mike Leach. In a span of seven years, Mike Leach QBs produced more top 25 seasons than any other school managed from 1997-2019.
15 of the top 25 seasons have happened in the past ten years.
The other 10? Two from Chase Daniel of Missouri (2007-2008). One from Sam Bradford of OU (2008).
The remaining seven (in a row, 2002-2008) were all Mike Leach QBs.
20 of the top 25 have happened since 2007, and all those that came before were Mike Leach QBs.
