I was just checking out the combine, mostly because I'm a sick, sick man, and saw Finley run. 4.85 and it looked slower than that. Bad start, bad form, not what he wanted I'm sure.

    And a 27 vertical jump.

The Laws of Physics and Gravity are really holding J Mike back. Otherwise, he might have returned.

Not having a good combine. 4.85 and 27" vertical wouldn't get a guy recruited to UT, much less turn heads in the NFL.

tellus ran a faster forty and had a better vert. I guess JMike didn't get the memo that the combine was today.

    Tellus ran a 4.69 and jumped 34.

J Mike looked completely unprepared. Disappointing.

What surprises me is that he decided to go pro. He is not quick-footed. On another thread posters were claiming he was better than David Thomas, but Thomas had quick feet. He could catch a short pass over the middle and put enough of a juke on defenders to get a first down. I don't have any youtube links to back this up, but if you've watched Finley over the past two years you know there were a number of times he caught passes with chances to gain first downs, only to be brought down before the marker. He is not an elusive player.

I hope I am wrong and he goes on to have a wonderful NFL career.

    J Mike's second 40 was 4.82. [IMG]

It's Davis' fault for not getting him the ball more.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope he picks it up, though. I'm sure Jmike will be a fantastic TE in the NFL.

I have to think he just wasn't prepared. What a shame,

He looked the best on the pass-catching drills.

He really just looked unprepared for the 40

I'd quote my posts on the previous Tellus vs. JMike thread, but this pretty much sums it up. Anyone thinking that Finley was faster is nuts.

another dagger in the "texas has great talent" myth.

I'm surprised by the vert being only 27"

Handler, exactly what I was thinking. You reap what you sow.

Sorry, but I don't feel bad for him. I don't take kindly to people throwing the University under a bus.

Man, that is a pretty poor showing. He should have stayed for sure after posting up #'s like that.

it says on NFL Network that they don't run until 3pm? How can I view the results of what the NFL and what the 40 times are.

Impossible. Didn't he read the other thread where people on here where positive that he was in the 4.6's and might go 4.5 while Tellus would be lucky to go 4.7?

Then again I believe some of those posters are the ones convinced AJ will be playing in the NBA in a few years so there could be some burnt orange bias.

I wonder how his prep has been. I cannot think he is that slow. After watching the high school all-star game he played in, I was suprised he was not a receiver. He played receiver the whole game and looked great. I was suprise he redshirted and played TE.

I got ripped before the OU game when I claimed Finley wasn't very fast...3 pages of posters telling me what an idiot I was.
