A small plane just crashed into the Echelon office building in Austin ... west side of 183, just south of 360. Doubt it's intentional, probably a prop plane that had a system failure or engine trouble. A bunch of police cars passed by us recently and there's a lot of smoke in the area. Apparently the building looks like it's going to burn down to the ground although I can't see it from here.
This is caddy corner to my building....I have had training at a place that used to be housed there called Infotec. This is crazy! God bless all involved.
From google the place appears to be Echelon Holdings Ltd, but apparently it also houses some IRS offices which makes me wonder if it really was an accident.
I remember the last time I went on Hornfans and saw a post about a plane crashing into a building. The date was September 11, 2001.
Now I'm hearing that the pilot burned his own house down last night. WTF? The IRS screwed him over so badly he wanted to end his life and decided to try and take some desk workers out with him maybe?
They're saying most people are accounted for.... only one unaccounted for, but he crashed into a car not the actually building?
Where did you see that the pilot burned his house down last night? If so, this was no accident. The news link reported the plane as a common beginning pilot training plane, that many taking lessons would fly. That building looks like the one I took some physical therapy sessions in after I broke my leg, but there are three similar building there, I believe. It is more or less right across 183 from The Container Store, according to the news. Didn't know IRS had any offices there. Scary event. The building appears completely ruined. No fatalities reported yet, but some suffered burns. Pilot suicide (?)

This could get a lot worse. The structural wall holding the ground back that the building is on has been damaged. There is also lots of water coming out from beneath it. If that ground is being washed away, that building could collapse.
This is crazy.. I didnt think it was that big of a deal but its on CNN, FOX, MSNBC.. all of the channels.. Im just waiting for FOX to deem it as a terrorist act.
They broke into the local news here in San Antonio to cover it for awhile. They said the NTSB spokesman had said that they were working on the theory that it was intensional, but the FBI spokesman said they were not. So, I don't know what is going on. That is pretty close to where I grew up (NW Hills). I guess I'll have to wait for the final investigation.
Here is what I know: His name is Joseph Stack. He has a daughter and a wife. They live in Georgetown. Police recieved a domestic disturbance call early this morning, when they arrive the house was on fire and Stack had fled the scene. His wife and daughter made it out safely. They are also speculating that he then drove to Georgetown airport and stole the airplane (unconfirmed). He is confirmed to be a pilot.. but the plane isnt said to be his or not. However some officers have said a plane was stolen this morning.. Witnesses of the crash are saying that it looked like he intentionally crashed into the building at a speedy descent. The building houses FBI and IRS officials/files. They have everyone in the building accounted for except 1. It has not been determined whether that 1 person left is the pilot or someone in the building. There have been some people escorted to SA hospital for burns. This is nuts.
How do you know this? The report I saw said the house was burned deliberately in Scofield Farms, which would be in north Austin. At any rate, this was a deliberate act of domestic terrorism. If the guy didn't kill anyone but himself it is a real miracle. Let's hope and pray that is the case.
The name I saw was Joseph Andrew Stack. I looked up that name in the white pages and found Andrew Joseph Stack III, who lives on the 1800 block of Dapplegrey north of parmer, and that house apparently burned in the last 24 hours.
^^^^ I didnt know if he lived in G-Town or not.. but I know he lived in North Austin.. I dont know this person what so ever. All my info is just relayed from CNN/MSNBC... He stole the plane (unconfirmed) from G-Town airport.. so im guessing he lives somewhere near that.
I live in the Great Hills area about a mile, or less from this and amazingly never even heard any sirens, or didn't pay any attention if I did. Amazing there isn't more fatalities and injuries. KLBJ - FM was reporting that he hit the breakroom in the building, which was pretty much unoccupied at the time.
Searched his name on Google and got his "manifesto" embeddedart.com/ - Website for Joseph Stack's company Copy Reposed If that's really him, definitely no accident.
That is one messed up SOB. The poetic justice in all this would be if he managed to kill 0 people, not even himself.
