All are interconnected, but how would you rank these areas in terms of importance.

    1. China. It's clear things are heating up quickly. Trade deal is off. Reciprocal close downs of embassy in each country. Rhetoric and sanctions aimed at China over Uighur holding centers, disputes over Taiwan with US sending selling fighter planes, China building modern aircraft carrier, and US sending additional warships into region. Most of these issues are nothing new, but it seems like government is using media to whip populace into a frenzy so that future government policy against China will be supported.

    2. COVID-19. Continues to spread. Although death rate is low, there are reports of long-lasting health problems (fatigue, heart abnormalities, shallow breathing) that reduce quality of life even after recovery. If death doesn't scare people, the possibility of chronic disability does. And even if there is a vaccine, it may only be of seasonal variety.

    3. Economy. The moratorium on evictions ends today. We likely will soon see a wave of defaults which will echo throughout the economy. Down the road homelessness will likely rise as a result. Congress will most likely continue extended unemployment payments, but perhaps for smaller amounts. Large payments are a disincentive for working. Smaller payments would exasperate defaults on leases and shrink consumption, thus pressuring businesses.

    4. Education. Both higher education and public school systems face logistical and financial challenges. Having to implement social distancing, scheduling flexibility, remote learning at a time when tax revenue is falling will create problems. On top of this, teachers are resigning and morale is low in many places.

    5. Social unrest and societal stratification. The country is highly polarized, the super rich are even richer, insurance costs and coverage is unaffordable/unattainable for many, race problems are magnified the most they've been since the 60's.

    6. Government is broken. Between corruption (bribery), incompetence, bureaucracy, and incompetence, nothing improves. And if deficits matter at all, we are eventually toast.

Personally, I'm not sure which of these is the most crucial. Maybe its something else. Or maybe all is fine (Iatro?) What do you think?

Yeah. Are you? Why do you ask. If you don't have any opinions, why even reply?

Hard to argue with those. The latter two, administrative growth and monetary policy are basically independent of political party. Other than making appointments to the various bureaucracies, these entities have a life of their own and often operate in secrecy. As far as monetary policy, it’s carried out by the federal reserve and the government has its hands tied no matter which party controls Congress or the Presidency.

failed political leadership which leaves us with two choices, neither of whom have any qualities of character.

Biden, who sails with the prevailing winds, which are most unhealthy right now.

Trump, who believed McCain was not a hero because he was captured. The real heroes were those who were not captured and those with Bone Spurs.

A pox on them both and the scurrilous class they spring from
