I would LOVE to know the story behind that...sounds like someone whose original design was denied for having too large of a 'footprint' and told the Planning Commission or whoever had approval 'rights' "Ok, hold my beer...I'll be right back."
Ok, kind of serious question here. Which came first? Sliced bread or sliced meat? I'm assuming somebody sliced a hunk of a beef or pork off a roast and said, damn I bet that would be awesome on two equally sliced pieces of bread.
Vol IIRC The Earl of Sandwich(an actual Earldom) is credited with creating the first sandwich He was playing cards , got hungry and didn't want to get his hands greasy plus keep one hand free for cards. So he put meat between 2 slices (hand sliced) of bread. Now I gotta go look it up to see if that is true or just a tale .

I noticed that. Buck Henry was a writer (well before SNL) and, on occasion appeared on-stage and hosted many early SNL episodes. He could generally keep it together, but in this instance.....
