I don't know why he didn't withdraw earlier, and that isn't the point. The point is that he planned to withdraw and maintained that plan beyond 2020. It was a stupid idea.

Deez ain’t playing fair and is borderline dishonest. The loser has enough dumped on him for losing the election. It is customary not to dump even more on him by imagining what said loser would do if he had won. This is equivalent of having your cake and eating it too. All the spoils and the mistakes go to the winner.

That's true. I'm only assuming based on what he said.

Trump's plan/deal with the Taliban was withdrawal by May 1 2021 and the Taliban promised not to harbor terrorist groups, to negotiate in good faith with Kabul, to not attack Anericans as they left. The DOD was supposed to have the Afghan Army trained and ready.
Biden didn't abide by the deal and did not renegotiate.
    This is the result

The truth about Taliban's stance on Al Qaeda. Important to finish the thread once you start it to get the story.

Haven't you accused Trump of being a liar? Why take him on his word now?

BTW, where's Biden? Shouldn't he be in front of a camera now like he was 3x last week?

I bet Hong Kong is shitting their pants right now. With Biden, "our word" on support or effective capability is on display

Now that's rubbish. I remember it from 2001. Lots of talk about expelling BL - but not actually ever doing it. It was a stall for time tactic. The Taliban had plenty of chances after Sep 11 to expel Al Qaeda - and never did.

!. Events are moving so fast on the ground that the Depends Administration doesn't want anymore Bagdad Blinken moments, such as when the Sec of State said:

    2. Slow Joe's handlers are desperately working the phones and Twitter direct messages to get everyone in the media-entertainment complex on the same talking points. You'll know it's been coordinated when you hear the same phrases over and over again. The message will probably be that it's all Trumps fault - Slow Joe was dealt a bad hand and had to follow the path laid out by Trump and so this is all his fault (never mind Slow Joe's been in office for 7 months now).

After the initial shock wears off in a few days, look for the late night comic suck asses to start up with the American Taliban lines - various comments about gun ownership or low vaccination rates and how similar Afghanistan is to Trump country. It'll be the same tired and unfunny lines recycled from "jokes" about Bush in 2001, but the staff will light up the Clap sign and the trained seals in the audience will clap.

Biden used executive orders very quickly to undo some of Trump's actions. That is the proof right there that he is lying to cover himself because he had the power to do it. It's patently obvious he wanted to remove the troops. He could have cited intelligence reports indicating the Taliban were massing up to attack.

He is incapable of telling the truth and the trained seals can't either.

This is Liberalism. It's all about virtue signaling but actual governance is an absolute disaster because virtue signaling is about the fantasy world in which they all live.

Some highlights of today's fall of Kabul, aka BIDEN BETRAYS ALLY!!!!

Why the USA might have not been focused on what was needed in Afganistan:

Old senile man watches TV, wonders when Wheel of Fortune comes on:

Mad rush at the Kabul airport for the last plane out (as we taxied down the runway, I could hear the people shout).

Baghdad Blinken says all is well:

    Err, maybe not!

At least the Embassy is safe, err, maybe not!

Not to fear though, the Adults are Back in Charge:

The Taliban getting in some needed exercise, as the Battle of Kabul didn't get their heart rate up into the cardio zone:

President Depends will soon meet with the new (old) leaders to work things out:

Wheres Joe been hiding? I actually agree with the decision to pull out of Afghanistan. If we couldn't accomplish the mission in 20 years then something is fundamentally wrong.

I agree we should have left Afghanistan - about this time in 2011 after BL was killed. I can see staying there up until that point - the US could not have performed the helicopter raid on BL's house without a large preceence in Afgan, and would have had to have tried bombing the house via drone or stealth bomber. It was much better killing him with a rifle, man to man style, and scooping up all the hard drives and other data.

But after that, and a short wind down phase to use intel from the raid to kill other rats, it was a great time to have left.

But King Barry had already pulled out of Iraq so as to have as a talking point for the 2012 election, and it was going into shambles, so they didn't want two problems at once.

The Biden failure wasn't in withdrawing, it's how it was done.

It's like knowing you need a divorce after 20 years of a failed marriage. You need to end things and get out. But how Biden did it would be as if you lost the kids, house, cars, investments, savings, TV, contents of your gun safe, and have to escape out the bathroom window and run off into the night wearing only a set of drawers.

Probably. That was 20 years ago - it's a whole new generation of Taliban running things, and plus the humiliating way Biden had the US leave has to to have embolden them. You don't put much fear, or even respect, into tribal groups when you have to evacuate your billion dollar embassy via helicopter.

    It's the hypocrisy folks:

‘Overdue’: Biden sets Aug. 31 for US exit from Afghanistan

"The administration in recent days has sought to frame ending the conflict as a decision that Biden made after concluding it’s an “unwinnable war” and one that “does not have a military solution.” On Thursday he amplified the justification of his decision even as the Taliban make rapid advances in significant swaths of the country.

“How many more, how many more thousands of American daughters and sons are you willing to risk?” Biden said to those calling for the U.S. to extend the military operation. He added, “I will not send another generation of Americans to war in Afghanistan, with no reasonable expectation of achieving a different outcome.”

Now he's blaming Trump. This is a catastrophic fail and every Liberal in the land blames Trump. Don't ever let them try to win an argument about Trump's lies. That is just a tactic. Their outrage is political selective outrage. The real problem is that Liberals BELIEVE in their politicians.

Biden's attempt to deflect should be a national outrage.

The USA hasn't won a war in 76 years. The top military leader, Gen. Milley (Cyrus?), was busy the past year reading about honkey rage and Mao's Little Red Book, and claiming the biggest threat to the US were people who voted for a different presidential candidate than he did. We scare no one.

Mission Creep is the real problem here. All of the presidents....ALL OF THEM... since 9/11 have screwed the pooch on this for political expediency.

Nation building is a very, very long task. If that is going to be the goal, then plan to spend two generations doing it. It requires a lot of money and a lot of personnel.

Killing lot's of stuff (for the US) is easy but comes with lots of politically uncomfortable collateral damage.

Keeping bad guys on their heels is pretty easy also, but requires robust intel and a persistent presence. Our teams have been successfully doing this for a few years now with a relatively small footprint and small budget.

Our problem is that our Goals never matched our strategy or actual concern/commitment. We had lofty Nation building dreams to include democracy and women's rights but no one ever wanted to be honest about the fact that this requires a Japan/Germany (WWII) type commitment. 50+ years, multiple bases and the politically uncomfortable creation of a MacArthur-esque position of Supreme Commander for a decade or so.

I was in Bagram and heard many interrogations first hand and a constant theme of the bad guys was "we just have to wait the US out". We proved them right, this month. And what is worse, we have demonstrated once again to the world that domestic politics makes winning wars a real problem for the US. This is even more problematic with social media now since foreigners can and will disguise themselves online specifically to stir emotion domestically just to undermine support for a conflict.

Can you imagine us carpet bombing a city now, even if we are at war with them? We have so many un-American diasporas in this country that our politicians try to appeal to, we'd never be able to engage the type of activities we actually need to "win" a war. Not unless, there were actual foreign troops and bombs in our own backyard.

So, Horn in Chi, what's the SOP for a takeoff if you have say a dozen people clinging for dear life onto your landing gear?

Well we barely made the airport
    For the last plane out
As we taxied down the runway
I could hear the people shout
They said "Don't come back here Yankee"
    But if I ever do
    I'll bring more money
Cuz all she wants to do is dance
