Embarrassed officials were at a loss to explain how Jean-Pierre Treiber, 45, a double murder suspect, managed to elude detection in the box he had built himself at a workshop in the high security prison of Auxerre, Burgundy.

Awesome escape. I love a good jail break story.

Dude has been in jail for FIVE YEARS awaiting trial. Sorry, but that's BS.

I remember when I was working at the paper in Huntsville, they had a guy who escaped by using a marker to color his prison outfit, and he literally walked out the door.

The best thing about it was when we were watching CNN talk about the story and the anchor chick had to do a double-take and started chuckling while she was doing the story. You have to love it when your prison is getting laughed at on national news!
