I will continue opine Card is a better QB and should be starting.
CT’s passing is going to cost us.

I was damn happy to see see 70 put up Saturday. I was damn unhappy to give up 35 points and over 500 yards of offense to the tortilla tribe. We will see better defenses than Rice and Tech.

I love Sark’s offense. He has had one spring practice, one fall practice, four games and is 3-1. He gets his best players in the position to make plays on offense. Gotta love it.

Not liking the defensive three man line that gets no pressure on the QB. Can’t expect db’s to keep coverage. QB’s that have the time are going to find an open receiver even when we drop eight.

Damn, what a stable of running backs!

    Card should be starting?
CT's passing is going to cost us?
Hmmm, you do know that our offense has been crushing opponents since Thompson has been handed the reigns right?

You do know Thompson's completion percentage is 77 right?
You do know that about 70 percent of the time we have the ball we score a touchdown with Thompson as QB, right? That's insane.
So we should make a change at QB?.
You made some other good points but you have lost some credibility with me.
Is Card your nephew are something?

I said it before and I will say it again. The difference between the two comes down to one thing. CT is a gamer. I would rather have a gamer than someone who has all the prototypical measurables that someone cherishes for a QB.

Not saying Card can't be that gamer I mentioned but for right now CT has what the offense needs to produce points.

CT has the X factor in spades.

Longhorns played 3 Qbs yesterday and all played better than aggie qb. Wow.

Not sure how we can say that when only one of our QBs attempted a pass.

Did I dream that Card threw a "pass" directly to the DB om the east sideline?

All our QBs contributed to a win. aggie QB hit his offensive lineman in the back of his Helmet, which led to an interception. Texas Qbs scored 7 times more points than aggie qb. And, second time aggie held to ten points. Yes Arkansas is good and beat us at their place. Yes it was humiliating, particularly in person (me), but the 9 million dollar man with his "own team" v our coaches' second game is part of the aggie humiliation. if you need proof that both teams were humiliated, visit Texags (briefly), its not just points, it is aggie playing twice as much, for Sumlin results. And our QB s and coaching situation seems to be getting better. Not so much for aggie w No offensive line, they are unlikely to transfer a decent QB from another program.

And aggie scored 10 on Colorado who lost to ASU and Minn (both scored 30ish)

Playing 3 Qbs has more to do with future planning and development than game day results. Sark could have entered the record books by putting No.1 in on the last drive. He did not. classy and smart. No offense to the football gurus on this board, I always appreciate your tremendous insight, but this fan loved much about yesterday.

As I always do, I stayed until after The Eyes, but this time the atmosphere in the stadium was exceptional. People were still yelling leaving the stadium. I was glad to see Sark play a lot of kids, and those kids responded. Mack was always lacking in that department wanting to pads stats instead.

It makes me think we have an exceptional coach! He could have padded and gone in the books. Instead he gave his kids game day experience for their efforts the other 6 days of work. As a fan (and worker bee) I LOVED IT.

The only thing that disappointed me was because of the humongous lead we had, Card never really got to run the offense. In each of our other games the guy playing 2nd string got to run the full offense at least for a while before we went into "run out the clock" mode.

We haven't punted in the 2 games CT has started. That's just crazy. CT is an excellent passer. Honestly think it's a bit of a disservice to just call him a gamer. Guy can sling the ball. He missed a few deep but rest were just spot on. Had 5 incompletions, one pick, one drop by JWitt, and 3 misses of which at least 2 of the 3 were deep balls. He's much more accurate than Sam. And Sam had LJH, CJ, and Duverney. Maybe Worthy will be as good as one of those, but he's not yet.

Definitely think CT should be starting. Makes quicker decisions and runs when he needs to.

That said, he got lucky with some throws yesterday. His ball tends to be high. Hopefully his accuracy will continue to improve.

Agree Sabre, the atmosphere was happy, and enthusiastic. Of course a blow out early against Tech is going to do that too but Casey and the boys deserve lots of credit. The truest preseason hype about our RB room is proving true.

I thought the ding on Casey was interceptions and interceptions only. If he ain’t throwing too many interceptions, then what’s the problem?

His accuracy is fine. His completion % is outstanding. Just hope he doesn’t force a throw into coverage again. No need to do that.

Thompson's hi throws do concern me unless Our receiver has a step. But a deep high throw to the sideline does give the safety time to get over and make a play on the ball. On that deep throw to Worthy on the sideline for a touchdown my heart jumped as soon as Thompson released the ball cuz I could see that it was high but it fell in their harmlessly right to worthy for the score

I wonder how many of you “”Cardfans” would accept a loss to TCU if it meant your guy won back the starting job? I don’t know…I just get that vibe.

CT is doing great and Hudson is getting snaps. Three solid wins against teams we historically handle in Austin. Got spanked in loss on the road. Now we’re on the road again, which will be a better indication of where this team is. TCU will be angry, but if this offense is real, Patterson’s defensive prowess won’t matter….

    Don't be ridiculous.
I felt okay with Card starting and was pleased after the Louisiana game.
After Arky I wasn't sure and put my faith in Sark.
Still not sure Card couldn't have done just as well against Rice and TTech.
But Casey is doing just fine and I hope he wins out.
Nobody wants to lose a game.
(unless it means getting rid of certain coaches} :)

Well, not sure whether I get that label, but heck no!

To summarize: at first, with both players about equal, Card was a better piece of real estate to build on. He looked a little better and has more potential (probably). The Arkansas debacle wasn’t his fault primarily, but with the bad result, and with CT, again, being so close, it made sense to try him out. Then, with as well as he has played , it makes obvious sense to still start him. For one thing, we have now developed that real estate—given him the meaningful reps and he has produced. We would be set back at this point to have to switch.

Casey is a great guy and I hope the team wins with him as the QB.

I can only remember one time I actually pulled for us to lose. That was in the 4th quarter of the Kansas game in Charlie Strong’s last year. We already had played so horribly that I was completely ready to change coaches. Our team looked like they wanted to lose, or didn’t care. The Kansas players were trying so hard, and you could tell it meant so much to them. I did finally think, “I hope they just come back all the way and get the W; a loss is actually better for us at this point.”

But that was an extreme situation.

I think there is one more slight ding on Casey that is now out of date: apparently the word out of practice (admittedly prior years) was that he would tuck and run before going through his progressions. However this is clearly not applicable today. First, Casey hasn’t displayed this tendency at all in the games that I’ve seen. Second, it contradicts the main criticism that he throws too many interceptions due to poor judgment.

Hard to believe we are critiquing a QB that is 4-1 in games where he played significant time and he has performed well in all 5 games. It’s been said Texas gets beat by lesser teams because they are too uptight or scared to lose. If true and if Casey is good at keeping the offense loose, I don’t see how Card supplants Casey this year.

Only weakness I see with C. Thompson is his deep ball. But why throw a deep ball if you are averaging 5-8 yards a play on the ground? His intermediate passing is great so far!

My only "complaint" re: CT is a minor lack of situational awareness. On the INT play, he could/should have scrambled, picked up 3-4 yards and set Dicker up for a very makeable field goal attempt. Other than that, I think he's played exceptionally well. Remarkable pocket presence.
Side note, as they've not really shown him on the sidelines, I don't know whether or not it's been the case, but I'd like to see Card much more active in supporting CT and his teammates during the game.

True the interception was a poor decision on CT, but pretty much every NFL quarterback would have made that throw to their no. 1 wr one-on-one in the end zone. Could have been a better throw, but JWhitt needs to learn to “body up” fight for the ball and at least play db in these situations.

The throw wasn’t deep enough. It should been thrown to back corner of endzone so only the receiver had a a chance.

To keep the DBs and Safeties from creeping up to the line and helping with the run game.
Even an incomplete deep ball keeps them guessing.

True. Definitely could have been a better throw, but I’m not questioning his decision to throw it.
