Either way, I agree that Newsom has major vulnerabilities both on style (very smug and douchie) and substance (crime, COVID, homelessness, social lunacy, and the general economic climate of California). However, if Trump is the nominee, nobody's going to talk about that stuff. It'll be mentioned, but it won't be the focus. Trump will trip all over his own junk about how he got robbed in '20. He'll talk a ton about that, and of course, the media will run wild with it, because it's what they want to talk about too. Makes Newsom's job much easier than having to defend his crap record.

Yes. He was originally elected in '18 by about the same margin. He'll be reelected in '22, but considering that it's a GOP year and his opponent is at least reasonably serious (though not well-known and won't have a ton of money) the margin will probably be tighter but still pretty large - maybe 57-43 range.
