Random Off-Season News

This is nice but I feel like we lose way too much experience on the OL to be number 1. Maybe they can gel as the season goes?

And OU at 18 seems really optimistic. Their QB transfer must be really good because their offense was atrocious this year. And I’m not sure their defense will be good enough to justify a top 25 ranking next year.

My post should have read early ‘60’s. Team was stiil brand new at the time.

I cannot figure out how to get to the “edit” function with this current version and since I use my phone, I need a lot of help.
You should be able to get the Edit button now ... sorry for the error, it is a problem with the website software but it should be fixed for you now.

Please let me know if you still have any issues.

Don't speak too soon. They are waiting for the never-been-wrong Snook Sentinel Poll which has leaked that they pick the Aggies #1.

Little known fact that the Sentinel Poll considers only teams in Brazos County. While Bryan HS beat out the Aggies when Merrill Green was HC, those days have passed.

Not a big deal. After the top 3, you can mostly interchange the next 5 any way you want. Regardless, Mel Kiper’s rankings have no bearing on how QE’s future plays out. I don’t know that QE is a starting QB in the NFL, but he could have a long career as a backup (similar to Colt and GG).

Not a bad way to make a living.

Let's take Quinn completely out of this conversation....I think Kiper has lost his mind or he's just following the brainless NFL popularity contest. It's pretty clear the NFL has no idea how to evaluate QB's as pretty much every year they get it wrong.

Sanders #1 - He's incapable of doing anything good under pressure. Possibly the most overrated QB in the history of QB's outside of Ryan Leaf.

Milroe #4 - Why? What exactly has he done to prove he's the #4 overall pick? Similar to Sanders he's terrible under pressure throwing 16 TD's and 11 Int's and the NFL will pick him apart. He ran A LOT for Bama, but at 4.6 40 he's too slow to run in the NFL and will get killed. Is the pool of QB's so poor they have to put him there?

Howard #6 - He should be much higher and much better than the two above. He had an outstanding year at 73% completion, 4,000 yds passing, 35 TD's passing 7 TD's rushing. Everyone talks about him being a running QB, but he really didn't run that much but used his legs to get first downs and get out of trouble. He's the example of how I want Arch to use his running skills next season. Be a throwing QB who can use his legs to get out of danger.

As far as Quinn, who knows. I don't think he has the ability to learn the correct techniques to make the throws needed in the NFL. If he did, his footwork would have improved over the past two years with Sark mentorship. That floating duck inaccurate pass he likes to throw will be easy picking in the NFL.

I doubt that NFL teams and scouts give two s**ts about Kiper's rankings or anybody else's either.

I think Ewers has the arm, and deadly short passing when he’s on….. but man, his inability to escape the pocket or run is a turnoff for many NFL teams, I’m sure.

I admired Landry greatly, but don't blame Jerry for ousting him. Landry had no qualms cutting players who had been to war for him when younger guys could play better. By 1989, Landry was no longer the best guy to coach the Cowboys.

Jerry was surprised that Landry hadn't been fired by the previous owner as arranged in the buying agreement. Jerry flew to Austin at least to handle it face to face.

I'm now on the other side with age but...

Young people nowadays have such recency bias. Honestly, they don't know a movie or song is even a remake. And they don't really care. (generalization, I know)

If they did that poll for people over 40, it would look way different because we actually have an appreciation for the years before us.

Down with blue bloods polls asking all ages!

Yep: only count the votez of those who smell of Ben Gay, Luby's, Aramis, Cotton Patch Cafe or Estee Lauter.
