One question about Tenn Nico
As things stand now he can negotiate a new NIL
And Tenn was renegotiating with him
So why did he not show up for practice?
I hope it hurts him with any program that might have paid more
I hope it hurts him with any future NFL considerations. That's where the REAL money is, and he has already demonstrated he won't hesitate to throw his coaches and teammates under the bus so he can be richer.

If I was a GM, what he's done in college would make him an absolute no-go for my pro team.

I don’t disagree that it’s the wrong decision and a bad look but what Nico is doing isn’t criminal and well within his rights. If I am making $2M at my job a year and I get an offer for $5M a year and go to my employer to resign and tell them I have an offer on the table that would give me a 150% raise that’s within my rights.

In the current state of NIL with no control and no guardrails this is essentially what has happened with Nico.

And to be honest the current state plays to advantage of the most wealthy teams of which Texas is at the top of the list.

To make it comparable, you'd have to be getting paid the $2M while skipping work. Also, Nico doesn't have the $5M offer currently.

Remember Tenn was in the midst of negotiating with Nico . Tenn never said they weren't going to pay more/
Nico is the one who dissed the team and coaches by not showing up for mandatory practice.

Agree ^^^^, but some school will roll over for him - someone like anyone in the Big XII and a certain school in Brazos County with a dog as a mascot.

Also, wasn't he involved in similar controversy before he signed with Tennessee??

I get Hunter. He's a Heisman trophy winner. Great player. Shedur is hype. He's a good QB, but not great, and very lucky the QB class for the draft is average at best.
What Deion accomplished was amazing. We will either look back and say he was an amazing coach who turned a program around with an average-good QB, as you predict, or it will be revised that Deion rode his kid to success if Shadeur ends up being Russell Wilson. I guess time will tell.

I propose we change the term student-athlete to athlete-student
There are still remnants of academics in there I think, not sure though
There are now some great student-athletes who get advanced degrees during their collegiate
eligibility. I don't know what is the norm, but I think thr academic dilligence of those on NCAA scholarships now exceeds those who attended college with me 40 something years ago

I think the student athletes in the non-revenue sports are truly there for an education for the most part. I don't know what percentage that constitutes, but an athletic scholarship is still a great opportunity for many.

Just daydreaming ...

If we get to the natty this year who would you most like to play and beat?

Revenge on the Buckeyes would be sweet but I don’t want to see their fans. Michigan, Florida, LSU could be fun matchups.

As far as LSU or Fla either would be ok as long as Texas hadn't played them in regular season. Repeat games make me nervous no matter the first outcome.
I guess that leaves out tosu too.
Oh heck let's just get there and I will worry later
