The switching of initials in the title really had me confused for a bit.

She will likely die of pancreatic/gall bladder cancer. She’s not there yet, but when it comes back, she will have 4-6 months to live. If anyone can survive this, it would be her.

That poor woman doesn't deserve this. She needs to retire already. Its too late for Trump to appoint someone new before the election.

No it isn't. Keep in mind that they would have until January to fill the vacancy, not November.

Given that the Republicans wouldn't let Obama appoint a Judge in the waning months of his presidency, why would the Dems allow it now? If Trump is reelected then its a different story.

They can't disallow it. There is no judicial filibuster anymore.

And why is there no judicial filibuster? Because the Democrats dumped it to get their way. I love it!

That's what put it over the edge, but realistically, it would be gone by now either way.

At some point, the cancer won’t be controllable. My guess is that she will retire some time in the next session, which ends June, 2021.

Regardless of her politics, she is one tough broad.

It depends on who wins. If Trump wins, she will hang on until she's dead. If Biden wins, I think she'll leave in the next session as you suggest.

Poor lady needs to spend the rest of her life with her family. Stupid political games aren't worth it.

If you've spent your whole life fighting for a cause and you know that stepping down means that cause probably being undone, it makes sense that she'd hold out as long as she can. Don't take my comment as an endorsement of that cause, but if I was in her shoes, I'd do the same thing.

Of course, the system isn't supposed to work this way. The Court isn't supposed to decide every major social and cultural issue, which is why traditionally judicial appointments were based more on qualifications than ideology, but now the Court is our policymaking super-power. Losing a seat on it is an enormously big deal.

Not surprised but they definitely kept her decline quiet the last few weeks. Im waiting to hear that Trump killed her.

And what is sad is we should all be giving her our prayers and celebrating her remarkable life even if we disagree with her record instead of already lamenting the **** show that's about to start.

Yep, but she was political to the end. Not interested in the good of the country. Should have retired long ago, but now we see her last wish.

The funny thing is that our self-appointed resident constitutional scholar Mr Deez (said tongue in cheek) is asleep during this breaking news. Would like to see his face when he wakes up tomorrow.
