Damn, there's a foul ever five seconds in this contest. They are calling every contact between the numerous big men in this game. It appears UT has already backed off underneath the basket. It's a shame. Announcers are talking about it, too.
Now they called a flagrant foul on Holmes, and the announcers are disputing the call, saying it was just a physical play common in basketball. Rick Barnes is not happy with the call.
Absolutely horrible - and taking minutes to review this Holmes foul is ridiculous. Three minutes??? Absolutely no flow to this game, and it's three guys' fault.
Why can't you overturn a flagrant foul call? If you're going to review it, you may as well get it 100% right.
If we only had Taylor. At least if we play uk in the tourney uk will be facing a different animal. Felix is killing us.
Felix is overanxious to make a play. I like his desire to create, but he needs to take what's given. He forces things way too much.
Absolute crap on these calls Ibeh with a bogus offensive foul, then gets mugged for no call and a phantom foul on the rebound. Uk can do whatever it wants. Life on the road against basketball royalty.
See and now this is what happens. Yhr home team gets up big, and now they start "evening out when it's too late.
No chance to be uk with these refs. It's not like uk needs any help. Just pathetic. We probably weren't going to win anyway but this is ridiculous. Now cheap calls going against uk
"Totally missed call" on the out of bounds play. Still caling fouls every few seconds. KU fans booing refs. a) we're getting blown out b) unwatchable due to over-reffeing
Ibeh was the best player for texas tonight and the refs made quick work of him at the beginning of the second half.
Ridley can't let that offensive rebound happen. Regardless of what happens for the rest if this game, texas has shown they are for real.
Kentucky had the #1 scoring defense in the country going into this game. Kansas only scored 40 on them. We went in without our starting PG and put up 51. A loss is still a loss, but our team did not quit and I think we are a national title contender when Taylor comes back. Let's hope Taylor comes back healthy, everyone stays healthy and everyone continues to improve (especially Turner).
Holmes played very well down the stretch. He and the rest of the team wore down with all those big Kentucky bodies. They just have too many players and in a battle of attricion, with all the fouls that is the difference. We did all we could in a physical game like that. People were pushing and shoving each other all over the place. The refs could have called more fouls than they did believe it or not. It shouldn't have been a flagrant foul on Holmes, but they weren't going to reverse it to a common foul after they had called it flagrant. They only reviewed it to see if they would call it a flagrant one or flagrant two. Barnes said after the game that college officials hardly ever see that much size on the floor and it makes it hard for them call.
How many free throws did Ibeh attempt and miss? His effort at free throw is embarrassing at best...hey Coach did you see this? Any chance Ibeh will be coached up to shoot free throws before the next game? And Felix...Geez. Horns hug tough and made UK earn the win but still some very weak links in the team chain.
To be fair, the rest of the team has vastly improved in FT shooting. We were 17/21 if you exclude Ibeh who went 2-8. Why everyone else improved and Ibeh learned nothing about FT shooting.... I do not know.
What's weird is that Ibeh has digressed on FTs this year. He started out the year looking improved. But it looks like the arch is getting higher and the shot is getting progressively worse. Today he looked like he literally had no idea how to get the ball in the hoop and was just tossing it up hoping it would fall. He had the one airball, but there were at least two more that were almost that bad.
