Any recommendations for good food at a reasonable price in Houston? Going there this weekend for a football game.

A couple of college teams at some sort of domed stadium.

Will be downtown but willing to travel for good food!

Best restaurant in Houston is The Barbecue Inn at Crosstimbers & Yale. Been there since 1946. Best Fried Shrimp, Fried Chicken, and CHecken Fried Steak in the state. Not expensive and closed on Sunday & Monday.

If the parameters are: fairly close to downtown and reasonably priced,
-- Star Pizza, then go drink at Keneally's

Any ideas on seafood? My wife wants seafood Friday night. Don't mind driving 20 minutes or so from our downtown location.

monument inn and barbecue inn recs on the same thread. c'mon people. [IMG]

don't get me wrong, my family has been going to BBQ Inn for 50 years. my mom and step dad eat there religiously when they come into town. hell, the same waitresses are there as when i was a kid. i'm 41. But i wouldn't reccomend it right off the bat to somebody who's coming into town. i live 1 minute away, and i might suggest somebody go there if they've been staying at my house a week and have hit every other place in town.
