Year 1 was a nightmare but that was a good interview Now get 5 or 6 big nasty O-line recruits and start grinding for next year Year 2 has to be MUCH better
Like people have said ….whatever you say at 4-7 sounds stupid. He is a very, positive, nice guy that makes a lot of people on this board feel very warm and fuzzy. There was some stuff he said that irritated me about evaluating the players, academically and socially …but It would sound good if we were 9-2. He’d make a good neighbor for sure, but he currently isn’t a good head coach.
I'm glad he's saying the things that everyone was discussing on the game thread. Things like football IQ and "understanding the why" which are going to take more than an offseason to address.
I work with talented engineers and managers who are quite inexperienced in certain areas. Some of the things they do are quite inexplicable and/or stupid. It blows my mind. I can’t imagine working with 18 year olds, though these kids get football training practically year round nowadays.
He's the greatest 0.534 coach ever! What's the o/u for "Live, Laugh, Love" signs in his house? I'm going with 3.
It’s worse than that. 4-7 is .363. But he has a chance to end the year at .416! He sure seems nice, though.
I wouldn't count on that just yet. Let's see what attrition occurs. How this recruiting class is. Personally, I have come to believe it will take a couple years. Next year we should be better. MUCH better? I'm going to temper my expectations to just "better".
That's the sort of coach I'd want to play for, however even when I was young and in my athletic prime I was slower than a Mackovic linebacker so no help there...
And if you listen closely you will catch that Sarks goals are to create a team for our future destination. He wants to bring a good/winning team into the SEC. That means big uglys on the OL and DL.
I did see his original press conference as posted here, And I felt much better after the press conference than I did before. Really hoping things go well
What struck me about this week’s press conference is what he said at about the 14:08 mark. To paraphrase, ‘if this was year 4 and we were talking about three or four losses, that would be unacceptable.’ While we have no reason — yet — to believe that this HC can turn the program around and get us back to national relevance, obviously he himself has such expectations. I like that. In essence he has agreed to a standard to which he will be measured in the future.
Well, I guess we will find out come year four. And Sark didn't promise anything. Just said it would be dissapointing to recruits if he has 3 or 4 losses in year four of his tenure.
Sarkisian should be well acquainted with that disappointment since he's never finished a season with fewer than 4 losses.
