I was there and it was fun to see the "oldies" playing against the young ones. It was about halfway through the third set when I said, "Hey....wasn't Chiaka a junior last year?" Wait, why isn't she in the scrimmage? Well.... the good news is I finally understand what the fuss was about Mikaya White. She didn't play all year her freshmen year and when she scrimmaged in the Spring, I was underwhelmed by what I saw. But she made some pretty good plays from the OH position. Also in Spring, Ebony seemed a bit flat. But she was great in this game. She had heavy hits as well as very well timed tips (even from the back row). The only weak spot is her serving. Lots and lots of service errors. Only played a few freshmen, and not that long. Looks like the libero from Westlake, Hunh, might get some playing time to relieve Cat McCoy during the year.
