Couple of questions about selling your own car....

#1) Do you charge the 6.25% motor sales tax and give it to the Tax Assessor's office? Or do you just charge the price of the vehicle and let the buyer go pay the sales tax when they go register the title?

#2) Do you have to go with the seller to the tax office when they switch the title over? I hear this is a good idea. But why can't I just mail in the form that declares that I'm selling the vehicle and am switching the title over?

You let the buyer pay the sales tax when they go get the title transferred.

I never went with the buyer to get the title switched so you definitely don't have to do that unless you want to for some reason.
