If Shane was going to leave, I'm glad he's going to SMU. He will get really good coaching from Sonny. More importantly, SMU is ranked the third best academic school in Texas (behind Rice & Texas), and has a better academic standing than any Big XII school not named The University of Texas.

Hook em, Mr Buechele, and thanks for all your hard work, commitment, and leadership. As Keith Moreland told my son when he gave him his bat, "remember, always be a Longhorn".

Hey my daughter is in law school at SMU. Maybe I'll go to a game with her to watch Shane shine.

I am a BIG fan and everything about him has always reminded me of Colt. I hope he kills it at SMU and I will go to that stadium for my first time just to watch one of his games.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Not a total surprise, can't blame him.

He handled himself very well while at UT. He won a bunch of games for us - several of them key. Always grateful he helped beat the loathsome Irish a few years ago.... first time since 1/1/70.

Best wishes at SMU young man!!!

Really smart kid. UT degree paid for, grad school at SMU paid for.
Mr. & Mrs, Buechele you raised a fine son.

Shane...you are the definition of a WINNER, wishing you all the best that life has to offer. If I had to describe the ideal Quarterback, Teammate and Sportsman...it would begin with you and end with you. You are the epitome of what every Longhorn player should represent. Thanks for being there and setting the example of what all true Men should strive to be...You are the best and I know you will be successful at whatever endeavors you chose in Life...God Bless Always.

PS Your parents must be proud beyond description of you and the way you exemplified the values that they instilled in you throughout your young life...how fortunate you are to have them.

I respect Shane. He may not have the big arm and body of some QB's but that kid has moxy and heart. I bet he will have a successful coaching career in the future. Who knows maybe he can make an NFL roster in the meantime. I am not betting against Shane. Just keep believing young man!

    This misconception always bugged me.
Shane has a better arm than Sam. He can make all the throws.

Yes Shane can make all the throws. I think he plays above his head most of the time. He is a good QB. I just see him as a smart young man and that is one of his best attributes. I think he will shine after Football is over. We will hear from him in the future. His arm strength is more than adequate. I was thinking of NFL prototypes like Peyton Manning. He is just not as big as those QB's.

    Agreed.
His size is what kept him out of the line up at UT.
In a different system (spread offense) he may flourish.
