Well, not really. His first three seasons in the NBA he might have taken a few days off, but not for injury. Then with the strike season he started every game, followed by two Lakers championships where he played almost every night with a few "vacation" days. A dude that big just doesn't have the body structure to stay 100 percent healthy.
