SONY HDTV ProjectionTV (warm up?)

My GF just bought a 60' SONY HDTV Projection TV and when first turned on, the picture is black and slowly comes to life over the next 8 to 10 seconds.

Any of you familiar with SONY TVs in this category and is this normal

 

Yes, normal. Every TV that I have had does this.

 

So I am guessing this is a LCD rear projection TV. If that is correct then yes it does take it a few seconds before it reaches full brightness. Typical time for most of these TV's is about 30-45 sec.

 

yeah, my sony takes a while to warm up.
