We'll see once again what Stoops and Sooner Nation are all about, but as a shout-out to Charlie, I bet we will know that Stoops ain't no Charlie.

Bob will make him go to class two days in a row. We already know Bobbie ain't Charlie. Reference: Joe Mixon.

You are correct, sir. Bob Stoops has a National Championship and how many Big XII Championships. His defense knows where to lineup and what their assignments are. He is organized and wins. He is no Charlie Strong, that is for sure.

Mayfield was drunk and resisted arrest by running. He wasn't driving car, involved in a gang rape, selling or using drugs; neither were any firearms involved. I would expect Stoops to handle the matter privately (within the family) and not involve the media.

It's Friday night in Washington County in the winter. Beaver Lake is too damn cold. If the Hogs aren't playing Saturday in Fayetteville, Washington County is one of the most boring places in the country. Unless he has ditched his oSu girlfriend or she is from XNA, why the hell would he be in Fayetteville on a Friday night. That's a bigger crime than being drunk.

With all due respect none of those accomplishments by Stoopd mean anything to me. I do not defer to anyone except an honest person. I would hope you know what I am referring to and it is the world of standards over glory by ill-gotten gain.

Good point, but I am stunned that you are a fan of any sports other than golf.

Is Stoops program clean? No, but cleaner than most, and cleaner than any OU coach since Jim McKenzie, who is the father of the "modern era" of OU football. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being pond scum the likes of the Schnellenbergers, Ericksons, Osbornes, Todd Grahams, Frank Beamers of the world, I put Stoops around a 6.5, which would be just beyond the average in his profession. Of that group, I have total disdain for Schnellenberger, but give him his props for being a really good coach. The rest of them, ain't happening.

    Alcohol is a drug.
Legal yes, but still a drug.

Sometimes I find it to hard to believe that we all attest to pull for the same team.

And a Fayetteville cop, probably weighed down with gunbelt, pistol, handcuffs, and portable radio, ran him down from behind and tackled him? I assume Stoops is now trying to recruit the cop to play on defense.

I'm glad I'm not the only who found that interesting/entertaining. Or perhaps Mr. Mayfield was beyond being mildly intoxicated and doing good to stand up let alone run.

How stupid do you have to be to get that drunk AGAIN in the same place you got arrested less than a year ago?

Mayfield will be devastated when Stoops informs him he will not be playing until the second half of the spring game.

So now he's 1-2 running from the Texas defense and 0-1 running from the Arkansas police.

That's about as an impressive an accomplishment as winning a beer-chugging contest with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

What's your deal with Beamer? Just curious. Also, Schnelly's year on Norman was a real **** show and tainted his status to me.

On the snowflake issue, I think that this is an outstanding omen for me as to the upcoming success of my Sooners. Just a touch of the old Sooners. Not to mention that this young man will be motivated between now and September to have his best foot forward and preparing. Any talk of suspension is silly. Public intox by a college student?

I would not care about public intoxication alone. It happens to a lot of college students regardless of whether they are athletes or not, the program is clean or not, whether they are snowflakes or not, etc.

The problem here is in typical snowflake fashion, baker felt he was special, mouthed off to the cop and ran away because special snowflakes think they can mouth off to cops and can just leave detention if they wish.

If he does this in Norman, the cops let it go and probably give him a ride home. Why would he get messed up in Fayetteville, Arkansas where they are more than happy to cite a Sooner for PI? Choosing to get messed up in Arkansas is not attributable to being a snowflake, that's just a dumb decision.

Well, as noted...this just shows the scouting report is correct and the cops should have expected it. If the play isn't there, he IS known for trying to use his feet to run from trouble.

    Bubba,

Beamer is scum of the highest order. He holds one NCAA record that will likely never be approached much less equaled. His Orange Bowl team in 96 (???) had 19 players out on bond when they left Bleeksburg - assault, rape, robbery. None suspended or held out of game. It was all about winning, which he couldn't do on the national stage.

I shall give him credit for being a good coach, just not a good person. Still, he was improving. He groomed little Vick from his first arrest for a 14 year old girl, all the way up to a 16 year old girl the next time he was arrested.

I had the "pleasure" of sitting behind and across the aisle from his tram at the auto parts bowl in Joe Robbie. The convicts families were seated across the aisle from the VT team watching the game as part of their prep for the Orange Bowl. I have never in my 60+ years been around such subhuman behavior. I finally walked down and told Beamer that Waste Management had their trucks outside to haul him and his trash away.

I would sooner drink scotch with Schnellenberger than be in the same restaurant with Frank Beamer.

Does anyone know why he was in "downtown" Fayetteville either time? Maybe hanging out with Mitch Mustain?

I don't know. If so, he needs to stay off of Dixon street.

    Bubba,

It's "Dickson", but regardless, I have been to Washington County multiple times over the years, and still can't figure out why he would go there unless his girlfriend transferred from Stillwater. The casino isn't nearly as nice as Choctaw, and the food is much better in Springdale, except for the ribs at Herman's, if you can eat there without all that hog stuff making you sick.

I spent my freshman year there and never went to Dickson St. as I was too young. It's been a while. In my experience, a man in his young 20's will go to great lengths to be around the proper female.

You guys will like this story. I caught hell in 1984 because I missed the Arky/Tech game to go to OU/Texas and I missed the Ark/Aggy game to go to OU-Nebraska (Keith Jackson TE Reverse day). They seemed to think that Ark/Texas was the #1 rivalry to the horns. I let them know that it was Aggy #1 and OU #2. I don't know if they'll ever really be on the national stage again.

They were right that Arkansas was Texas main rival with OU 2nd in those days. 60's thru 80's.
And Arkansas was very much on the national stage then.
