Since we always have endless threads about how terrible writers and announcers are, I thought I'd start a thread where people can talk about writers or announcers or analysts they enjoy. And please don't turn this back in to a "he's terrible" thread by bashing other people's opinions.

Some of my favorites are Rick Reilly, Mike Tirico, and Jay Bilas.

Bob Costas (smartest man in broadcasting)
Ron Franklin (always solid, knows the Big XII)
    Al Michaels (legend)
    Vin Scully (uber-legend)
    Craig Way (I know, I'm a homer, but he's a good boy)

Bill Simmons, the Sports Guy on ESPN's Page 2, is allsome. Pat Summerall is an all-time great. Troy Aikman is surprisingly good on Fox's NFL coverage. And obviousl Craig Way.

I like Joe Buck and Troy together, but I can't help but comment on how much they sound alike. You kind of have to think for a second to figure out which one is talking.

they do sound similar. at a glance they even look similar. If I was good at photoshop, I would do a Aikman/Buck Dr.Evil/Mini me parody... but alas...

    Craig Way is the ****.

    I like Marv Alberts' voice.

Whoever said Aikman/Buck is right. They're good.

Aikman / Buck are really, really good.

Way is pretty good, but nowhere as good as Shoenning. It's hard to believe Texas once had Chuck Cooperstein doing play-by-play. He's about the best radio pxp in the business. Simply outstanding.

Jay Bilas is I think the best in the business. Andy Katz (reporting) is a great one as well.

I also like Ron Franklin, Dave Barnett, Verne Lundquist, Summerall (sp?) and Bill Schoenig (sp?).

Do you guys think that aggy believes Dave South to be great, or do they realize what a moron he is? I mean, I think Craig Way is fantastic, but maybe it's because I'm a homer. But I KNOW Dave South is a tard.

    Some that haven't been mentioned:

Jayson Stark - Because he wrote the greatest articles ever when the Astros went to the World Series.

Bill Walton (I realize I am in a minority here) - Because he is a nut and a deadhead.

Woody Page - Just a cool guy.

I forgot to add Dan Patrick. As for Craig Way, he's better than Ambien. He could put coffee to sleep.

Norm Hitzges and Chuck Cooperstein. Very few people do their homework as well as Chuck - he knows his stuff.
