Man we have some depth. Like scary depth. I really like how they move the ball around. Everyone getting involved. No one seemed selfish, and better yet, no one seemed lost. We've had too many games recently where guys would put their arms up in the air and look back to the bench to see what they did incorrectly. Not tonight. I mean... it's Texas Lutheran, so. You know. But I think this group looks damn good.
The lineup of Askew, Licon, Benson, Tyson, and Cunningham was even tearing it up. They looked like they had more energy than the "regular" backups. Taking charges and ****. Man.
Stat sheet had Horns with 17 steals. If that is correct it's got to be a record for the Horns. Even against TL, that is a lot of steals.
Impossible to gauge anything given the D-3 competition. But with that said, I saw no unselfish play and I saw a whole lot of stuff that makes me think all these guys like each other and get along well off the court, and that camaraderie bleeds over to on the court. That's a very good thing, but let's see if it holds up when the competition gets real.
They were talking about this game on the B&E show this morning. They said nice win, but it was obvious this team will need to get more comfortable with the motion offense that Beard runs and that the talent on this team is crazy good.
Texas basketball defeats Texas Lutheran in preseason scrimmage Love how they honored Wacker but also love how Beard asked all the students to come down to the floor for a picture.
I love the motion scheme Beard uses. I hated seeing the Horns standing around during long stretches in so many games over the years.
