ACC/SEC Challenge... and what a challenge this game should be for us, especially on the home floor of the Irish after they dropped two consecutive games over the weekend. They'll definitely be playing like they have something to prove. We are going to have to be much better than we were against WVU.

Some Texas players seem to be having first half vs. second half games, i.e. Booker and Taylor. Would love to see them have consistent games throughout in order to defeat Notre Dame.

Did anyone else “leave” the West Virginia game happy about the win but really nervous about this squad? I mean what was that? We went almost 5 minutes without a basket at one point and still got the W. We’ve never been a good outside shooting team, but it seems even more off this year.

It was just a very weird game and now I need an ND win to calm me down about the coming season.

I'm thinking that if Hayley Van Lith can handle Hannah Hidalgo, Rori and Book certainly can. She said, hopefully.:hookem:

I think we're struggling to find a flow because so many different combinations are being used. Eventually that rotation is going to have to tighten up a little bit for the sake of continuity. That happens... I think we'll be just fine.

A new poster inquiry: back in Austin after some time away. Used to join viewing parties at the Hitching Post on Burnet; I see that is gone. Is there a current local gathering place to watch the games? Would love to see the Notre Dame game with a crowd....

Glad to hear we played an ugly game against quality opponent and got the win. I'm glad I didn't see the game cause I'd be just like you. I'm pretty sure we will not go undefeated. I will be more than happy if we could remain a top 10 team through out this season :bevo:

I will at least admit that the team’s difficulty containing Harrison and Quinnerly gave me some unpleasant flashbacks to last Spring’s game against NC State. And I couldn’t help but think things might get ugly going against Hidalgo and Miles. But I saw some things that encouraged me to think the team may be able to be much better by the end of the season if not sooner. Preston and Lee seem to be rapidly adapting. Lee seems to be ahead defensively. But I think her offense will come. Sure I wish the team shot the three better. That could be a difference maker playing more elite teams.
Edit. P.S. we won’t see many teams play the kind of relentless defense WVU does.

The Irish are due for a big win. Miles and Hildalgo are still trying to figure out how to play together. Hoping they don't figure it out at our game. I'm concerned when they are both on the floor who will guard whoever Rori is not guarding. They are both fast. Maybe this will be the game where we will see a lot of Rori and Preston, 2 of our fastest guards.

I'm excited to see the chess match between the coaches.

In listening to Schaefer, it appears he is more concerned with Citron a 6’-1” guard. She averaged 17 points per game last year and is a good 3 point shooter. Hidalgo, Miles and Citron are 3 guards that give everyone trouble. Miles is still kinda finding her way back from injury. Along with King, a forward. Those four are the keys to beating ND.

Have watched several of their games. Citron is real. She is somethimg we dont have. A big guard that can create her own shot and makes her 3's.
This one is going to have to be an "ugly" game. I just dont think we have the offense to match theirs if all things being equal.

Our D is going to have to show up.

I mean, they got a very big win at Southern Cal a couple of weekends ago.

I think Notre Dame wins. Their perimeter play is going to be very difficult for Texas to contain. I like Vic and think that he is a really good coach, but I wished his coaching on the offensive side was better.

I agree. I just don't think that Texas has enough offensive ability to keep up Norte Dame.

Ummm. Where is our inside game? Awful shooting except for Shay. Senior senioring!

Ok. Let's regroup, focus and follow whatever game plan coach develops. We are only down by 5 with poor shooting. We got this.

Well poor shooting is nothing new.
Not expecting anything differant.
Its the freaking turnovers. And giving away some easy baskets.
And are playing better when Jones and Moore are on the bench ?

Based on how the announcers are calling this, you’d think ND was playing Texas State. Total BS by ESPN
I finally muted it, about the fifth time Texas made a good play and Lobo just sat there in silence with no comment. Then next ND play and she revved up gushing about their play.

Honestly, we clean up our unforced errors /turnovers and we run away with this. Vic will get that cleaned up. Not sure how this will turn out but I’m feeling pretty positive about what this team will become this season.
