Coach Watson also left the program. If they do not bring in an elite distance coach, men's program could lose on a number of the top distance runners
it’s still a possibility. The hurdler is Jamar Marshall who is a 3x pac 12 champion. I wanted to make sure he was actually going to transfer before saying anything but he’s no longer listed on their roster so Texas is still in play.
Coach Flo understands what it takes to be a coach at Texas! Another big commitment. Her PB are 11.26 100m and 23.13 200m. Reminds me a lot of Teahna Daniels.
I wonder what happened this past season, not only were there a number of transfers out of UT roster, but a lot of the pros no longer train under Flo
I wish our distance program was better than what it is honestly. We are getting some great kids so we should be too 5 in the country by now. I think coach Flo understands that along with great sprinters you need a combination of great field events which is why he picked up the ncaa champion and 3rd place finisher in the pole vault. Texas should get close to if not win a natty indoor and outdoor this season.
You can coach preparation and starting which add to event speed, but with all of the preparation and starting HIC and Sabre would be closer to the back of the pack, but still, speed challenged.
C'mon now. Sabre would be a little bit faster than Samuria Sword, faster than Scimitar, and a lot faster than Broadsword. Only Dagger and Dirk could beat Sabre in his prime.
Does anyone know what happened to Brian Herron? Idk if he’s dealing with injury but he hasn’t been in any meets besides the first indoor meet in early December.
I don’t know what happened I think Flo rested a lot of athletes to prepare them for the indoor championships. I noticed Tobias didn’t run the 800, smith didn’t do the long or triple jump, Bizimana didn’t do the 800, and the 4x4 wasn’t the regular lineups. The women would’ve easily won the big 12 title had he put the whole team out.
With one event left, it appears Texas men will finish 2nd to Tech and the Texas women will finish 1st at the B12 track and field championships. Congrats women!!! For the men, TT was very strong at pole vault and triple jump and Texas hardly scored at all in those events. I am sure others can point out other deficiencies that prevented Texas from being conference champ.
