I kind of expected Rupp would come through with at least a base hit, and maybe a long ball, but never in my wildest dreams did I think Rowe would go yard. That took the wind out of me. This team is a team of destiny!
So Rowe's walk-off homer is the last walk-off homer in the CWS since Chance Wheeless' walk-off homer against Baylor in 2005.
Another great coaching move by Augie - re Conner's comments right after the game - "I looked over at Augie, and I got the sign to swing away, and I was surprised. We had been taking the first pitch most of the time." And then he went on to say that he was looking for the changeup, because that is what the pitcher had got him out on the last time up. I was at work, heard a roar and then saw people running around the restaurant. Even people that "didn't give a ****" were caught up in the moment. This is why I love sports and competition. Thank you guys for giving us some great memories. We've got some more to make.. BEAT THE HELL OUTTA LSU!!!
